The Pack's Alpha (by Cooper) novel Chapter 27

Yorick

After meeting with Tracker, Cyra and I return to her room.

I was hoping for information, but we’re still in a waiting game, this time waiting for Hacker.

“Maybe Zach is on to something with these nicknames,” I say, grabbing my computer.

“‘They do seem to like them around here,” Cyra says.

I pull up my email and see a message from Wendy.

Yorrie,

Here’s what I have so far. I’m having difficulty getting into Alpha Arden’s information, but from what l’ve found, there’s nothing about a son taking over the pack. Is Cyra’s brother younger than she is? I’m guessing so, since Arden is still Alpha.

Second, the only Stellan I’ve found near the Teymoori pack is a second son. Do you know his last name? It would help me to pinpoint his pack, unless you think that she’s in this type of bond with a second son.’

That wouldn’t make any sense. Second sons, like me, have to make our way in the world, unless there is a ranked position open in the pack or your brother boots the Beta or Gamma heir to give his brother the title. Or, like Connor, they offer you to work for them. But none of those reasons would warrant an alliance bond.

I go back to the email.

‘Finally, I’m going to start digging on Jory. You said he was a warrior, but do you know which pack he was from? And do you have a last name?

I hope you and my future sister-in-law are doing well.

Love you, bro,

The best sister ever.’

I snort reading how she signed off.

“What?” Cyra asks, looking up from her computer.

“My sister emailed me and signed off ‘The best sister ever

“Is she?” Cyra asks, smiling.

I shrug. “She’s my favorite sister, the one I’m closest to. So, yeah, she probably is.”

Smiling, I hit reply.

‘To The Best Sister Ever,

We have someone here working to try and get info on Cyra’s alliance bond. They are also struggling to get into his pack information. Although, I need to call Connor and tell him to tighten our pack’s security. Apparently, it’s extremely easy to get the information. I found out Connor and Madison are having a boy. That’s how easy it was for them to get into our pack’s information.

As far as Cyra’s brother goes, she must be the oldest.

That’s the only thing that makes sense. And you must have the wrong Stellan. There would be no reason for Alpha Arden to create an alliance bond with a second son.

Maybe expand the search?

And I’ll see if I can find out any more about Jory.

If I haven’t said it, thanks for this. You really are the best!

Love and hugs from your big bro,

Yorick’

By the weekend, we still haven’t heard back from Tracker.

I can’t be sure, but it doesn’t seem like it’s a good thing that it’s taking this long for Hacker to get through the Teymoori fire walls. If he’s good enough to be a third year at the Academy, then it seems like Cyra’s father has his pack’s information locked down like Fort Knox.

“Hey Shakespeare. Hey Aphrodite. Nice of you to join us,”

Zach says as we get to the table in the dining hall.

l ignore him saying hello to the others while Cyra does the same, although she starts blushing.

“We’re going to a club tonight. You two should come,”

Piper says.

“And she doesn’t mean in the way you did just before you came to dinner,” Zach says, grinning at me.

“Damn, Nickname. Why don’t you call them out?” Landon says.

“I’m pretty sure he just did,” Katelynn says.

“Dude, don’t be a hater. I can’t help it that I can’t get enough of my girl,” I say, pulling Cyra to me and kissing the side of her head.

You know we have our first round of exams next week. I hope you’ve been spending time with your nose in some books and not just in …”

“WHOA!” the whole table yells, throwing napkins at Zach

– while he grins like a fool.

“I’m just trying to be a good fried,” he says.

“You’re lucky I like you or l’d punch you in the face. Oh that’s right, I did that yesterday,” I smirk.

Zach and I had been paired again in sparring class. Neither of us pinned the other, but I left with a bruise on my ribcage and he left with a bruise on his shin.

“Yeah, that reminds me, I don’t appreciate you messing up my pretty face,” Zach says and we banter back and forth throughout dinner.

“So, are you coming or not?” Piper asks as we begin cleaning up.”Do you want to go?” I ask Cyra.

“Yeah, it’ll fun. Is everyone going?” she asks, looking around.

We get showered and changed and around ten o’clock, we meet to go out together. I haven’t been to a lot of clubs in my life. There aren’t any close enough to our pack and having just turned eighteen, my parents were adamant about not going.

The Wolf’s Den is obviously owned by a wolf pack. When we arrive, the place is filled with shifters. The music is thumping and lights flash on a dance floor covered with people dancing and sweating on each other.

Zach pulls Piper onto the dance floor and even though it’s a fast song, the two of them begin slow dancing.

“Is it bad that I would rather have stayed home and danced and sweated with you in bed?” I ask Cyra as I hand her a drink.

She laughs and throws back her drink.

“Come dance with me,” she says, setting her drink down. I down my drink and she leads me onto the dance floor.

She’s wearing a form fitting dress that hits just above mid-thigh. Her high heels make her legs look even longer than they are and when she turns to me, she’s nearly my height.

She slides her arms around my neck and I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her against me.

“Okay, maybe this isn’t so bad,” I say, leaning in to kiss her.

I have no idea how long we dance, but eventually she leans up and tells me needs to use the bathroom.

“You want another drink?” I ask her.

She nods and I tell her I’ll meet her at the bar.

I find a spot at the bar, nodding to some of the other students from the Academy while I wait for my drinks.

I feel an arm slide around my waist, and even without being able to smell her in this room full of sweaty shifters, I know my mate’s touch, and this isn’t her.

I turn mỳ head and see Megan smiling up at me. Where Cyra’s dress was subtly sexy, Megan’s plunging neckline looks slutty.

“Hey handsome. Buy me a drink?” she purrs.

“No. And get your hand off me. Do you have a death wish?” I ask her, not even trying to sound civil.

“I don’t see your girl around anywhere. I thought maybe you and her had a little argument.”

“Nope. So go find someone else to bother.”

She narrows her eyes at me and opens her mouth to say something. “Oh,” she says, stumbling into me.

Instinctively, I reach out to grab her. When I do, she shifts her body, pressing herself against me, her mouth much to close to mine.

I’m just about to push her off me when I hear my mate.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake!”

My head whips around and I see fury in Cyra’s eyes.
