The Pack's Doctor novel Chapter 297

Yorick

After Stellan’s court hearing, Cyra and I went back to campus.

“It’s done. It’s finally done!” she says.

“Good, now you can relax. You haven’t been sleeping, you haven’t been eating, I can feel how upset you’ve been all week. I don’t like my mate being so stressed.”

“There was no way around it, Yorick, you know that. But now, it’s done. Now we can focus on our pack, our studies, getting you on the C–Squad, and starting our lives together.”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that,” I tell her.

Since I know she’s been so stressed this week, I tuck her beside me on our loveseat while we study. But the next day, she still wakes up feeling queasy.

“Baby, you have to relax,” I murmur in the morning, still holding her against me in bed.

“I know. I thought I would feel better today, but maybe it’s going to take a couple of days. So much has happened so quickly,” she says.

We get through our Friday classes, then say goodbye to Landon and Lila, wishing them a good visit with Landon’s family.

“I expect good news when you return on Sunday,” I tell him.

Landon just laughs. “We’re going to talk. Hopefully, we’ll have made a decision by then, but I won’t rush Lila. A lot has happened to her in a short amount

of time.”

“I understand and I respect that, having my own mate who has had a rough week,” I tell him.

We say goodbye and start to head to our car when I hear a familiar voice calling out to me.

“Striker!”

I turn, seeing Hacker jogging over to us. “Hey, I was just wondering if you’d given any more thought to me staying the night in your pack this weekend?”

Honestly, I’d pushed the thought of having the man who is taking my sister on a date stay at my pack, under the same roof as my sister, so far out of my mind that I’d completely forgotten about it.

I hear Eyra chuckling beside me.

“Fine. One night.”

Hacker grins excitedly. “Great! Thanks! I’ll see you tomorrow then!” he says before jogging off.

“Why do I feel like that was a huge mistake?” I grumble.

“It wasn’t. He’s not going to do anything stupid, First, he knows your family would kill him. But second, it’s important that he maintains a good relationship with Wendy since she’ll be on their team next year. I thought it was telling how he said that any weakness of hers is a weakness for all of them. If he does something to put a rift between them, it weakens their team. He loves what he’s doing, and I don’t see him doing anything to jeopardize that,” she says.

“Always the voice of reason!” I say, kissing her before we get in the car.

We haven’t had a lot of free time, but Connor did send over the packhouse specifications for us to look at this week. Cyra and I had decided on the ones we wanted and as we drive down the road toward her father’s old packhouse, we pass the centralized area where we want our new packhouse to be. I’m shocked when I see that Connor has already started breaking ground. It must have happened today because he didn’t say anything about it when we saw him in court yesterday.

I pull into the area, stopping beside a bunch of trucks and machines. Cyra and I get out excitedly, seeing my father ahead of us.

“Dad!” I call out.

“Hey, Yorick. Hey, Cyra. Connor wanted this to be a surprise,” he says.

I look around, realizing they’ve already dug out and framed the foundation of the packhouse.

“We pour the concrete tomorrow and then we have to let it set before they can start building,” my dad says.

I wrap my arm around Cyra, pulling her against me. I can feel her excitement, as strong as mine.

“This is incredible. I can’t believe everything is falling into place,” she says.

“Obviously, we can’t spar here for a while. They’ve taken over our sparring area and it will be too loud once they start construction. So, I have the different sides alternating. We’ll spar on the west side tomorrow and the east side on Sunday. I’m looking at other areas where we can create a joint sparring ground temporarily. We can be near here in the morning, but afternoon training will be more difficult with the construction going on,” my father says.

After we talk to the construction manager, Cyra and I get back in the SUV. I call Connor, thanking him again for this gift.

Dad and Cyra spend the evening going through the pack’s financials, while I spend time with pack members, checking in and making sure everyone is settled.

Over dinner, Cyra and I make an announcement about the results of court this week, letting everyone know that Alpha Arden and Alpha Stellan were both found guilty and will be spending the rest of their lives in jail. I’m thankful that no one seems upset by the results of the trial.

The next morning, Cyra once again wakes up feeling nauseous.

“We’re going to see mom,” I tell her.
