The Pretender and The Prince novel Chapter 64

Ondine got into Ellis’s car. He drove them to a private club and led her to a secluded room.

“So, why were you looking for me?” Ondine asked, her expression impassive, her eyes glacial.

“Ondine, I was wrong. Please, don’t leave me. Just give me a chance,” Ellis pleaded, his voice trembling. He was terrified—terrified she would reject him, terrified she would vanish from his life again.

A chilling aura seemed to emanate from Ondine. “It’s too late,” she said, her eyes cold.

A sharp pain lanced through Ellis’s heart.

“I know about your mother’s illness,” he said, his voice raspy. “I can cover all her medical expenses. I’ll do anything you want, as long as you forgive me.”

Ondine lowered her gaze. “That won’t be necessary.”

“Ondine, don’t do this to me…” He took two steps forward, reaching for her.

She sidestepped him, her tone icy. “Ellis, the only reason I came here tonight was to make things clear. You pretended to be poor, you played with my feelings, you cheated on me with Chantal! I don’t care about any of it anymore. All I ask is that you forget the past and leave me in peace.”

“No…” A wave of despair washed over his face. “I can’t do that.”

Ondine sat composed on the sofa, her gaze as cold as winter frost. “If you continue to harass me, my husband won’t let you get away with it.”

It was as if a bolt of lightning had struck him. Ellis’s face went deathly pale, his eyes filled with disbelief. “Husband? You’re married?”

“Yes,” she replied. In stark contrast to his shock, Ondine was perfectly calm, her tone matter-of-fact.
