The Primordial Record novel Chapter 1918

Chapter 1918: Ancient Monster (2)

The Primordial Record could be seen as the greatest storehouse of power in all of existence, and its importance could not be downplayed, since the greatest power in existence had spent sixty-five million Cosmic Eras filling it up with power. Who in their right mind would choose to give up this power when there was a chance to fight for it?

The Primordials knew that Rowan did not care much for ultimate power; many of his methods of battle had been silent, and for someone who had so much power, he had little fame to his name. His greatest acts of cruelty were never done to showcase his powers; most of the time, it was because of necessity.

Rowan was the one person who would not care for ultimate power because he knew the responsibility that holding such a power required, and because of this fact alone, he would never leave the Primordial Record, if only for the fact that he would not want this power to fall into the wrong hands.

They trusted Rowan’s care for all of existence over his greed for power, and they knew that his heart would bind him tighter to the Primordial Record than power could ever do.

And again, they were right... Rowan had seen the devastation the Primordials were able to do with a single Origin Force, and it was hard for him to imagine what they would achieve with all of them.

An argument could be made that the Primordials would change their ways when they had ultimate powers and no longer had any threats standing against them. In fact, Rowan could see how this could be used as a viable argument when he stood against the Primordials.

They would tell him that he had no right to judge them because his hands were not clean. Rowan had killed hundreds of billions during his lifetime, and did he think that he could be redeemed?

They could say that Rowan committed many grave sins because he wanted to stop them, and knowing the betrayal they caused the Primordials to fall into madness, they could also blame their actions on Enoch, and all their actions were just to gather enough power to stop him.

"We are the same," they would say to him, and with their charisma, a more naive version of him might have fallen for the bait, but there was one crucial distinction that Rowan would never forget that separated him from the Primordials and beings like Enoch, and that was that he had regrets.

And he had spent enough time with the Primordials to know that they had none of that in their hearts. Cold and calculating, everything served their purpose, and in many instances, that was a great advantage, until it was not.

They could hypothesize that Rowan would not give up the Primordial Record due to his sense of responsibility, but their minds would not be able to logically see the next step that this same sense of responsibility would push him towards; it was like assuming a snake would know what it felt like to be warm-blooded.

Severing his connection with the Primordial Record had shown Rowan why it was almost impossible for the Primordials and Enoch to gain access to this Singularity without his permission. Despite the fact that he was transferring this authority to his Incarnation, he bond the Primordial Record had with his essence was so great that it took the full cooperation of his main body and his Incarnation for it to work, and even now, he had to constantly fight to keep the Primordial Record from returning to his main body.

Everything was already in place to reach the ninth-dimensional level, and Rowan decided to look through the Primordial Record before he took the next step. Even with his ownership of this Singularity, he was still unable to open the page of the Primordial Record; he was only sent a snapshot of his present realm, and the first thing Rowan did was to zoom closer to his present age, and the number still shocked him.
