Chapter 41
Zane’s tone was sharp and authoritative, as if he had already made a final decision on his own. But beneath that commanding front lay a deeper strategy.
The Morgan, Blake, and Summers families were collectively known as the “big three” in their world. Among them, the Morgans stood at the pinnacle—unmatched in wealth, influence, and social standing. The Summers family held the second position, while the Blake family was ranked last.
Given this hierarchy, Zane’s proposal to marry Nova on behalf of the Blake family was less a suggestion and more an ultimatum. The Blakes had only two options: accept the alliance or face financial ruin.
This was the wellspring of Zane’s boldness and certainty.
“Are you serious? Arranged marriage? In this day and age?” Hannah’s voice cut through the tension, dripping with disbelief and scorn. “Listen, Zane, even if my family goes bankrupt, we will never stoop to accepting such a disgraceful proposal. Now, take your people and get out of here!”
Hannah was quick to react, her roar echoing with fierce defiance. While her words were harsh, they revealed a strong backbone. She might not like Nova, but she refused to treat her as a mere pawn in some twisted game.
Maxwell instinctively stepped forward, pulling Nova protectively behind him. His voice was low but resolute. “Zane, did I not make myself clear last time? Nova is my sister. If you lay a finger on her, I promise you’ll regret it.”
Nearby, Sophia, Ethan, and Claire stood frozen, their expressions a mixture of shock and disbelief. Nobody had expected Zane to seriously propose marriage to Nova.
The girls, who usually shrieked with excitement, were now silent, stunned by the sudden turn of events.
Meanwhile, Nova remained calm, her expression unreadable. With her unique abilities, she knew that not even Zane or his powerful family—nor the ruler of Zoria’s entire economy—could truly challenge her.
What caught her off guard was Hannah’s fierce reaction. A small thought crossed Nova’s mind: *Maybe my sister isn’t as bad as I thought.*
The brewing conflict between the Free Combat Club and the Taekwondo Club had already grabbed everyone’s attention. It all began with Zane’s taunting at his birthday party, sparked by Maxwell’s protective stance over Nova. Now, everyone was eager to see how it would end.
But this moment was about more than just club rivalry. The outcome would decide the Blake family’s fate and Nova’s engagement, raising the stakes to an all-time high.
The crowd erupted in response to Nova’s declaration.
Hannah’s eyes widened in shock. “Nova, what are you talking about? We never agreed to this.”
Maxwell’s voice rose with firm refusal. “Absolutely not.”
Julian looked stunned. “Nova, are you serious? You can’t beat Zane.”
Objections poured in from all sides.
But Nova paid no attention to the protests. Her cold gaze remained locked on Zane. “I’m not asking for permission. This isn’t a request. I’m telling you—I will fight this duel. Zane, you better be ready.”
