Nicolas shot Athena a displeased look. He could not believe that she had bothered the granduncles over such a trivial matter.

Les fixed his gaze on the cook and demanded, “Spare me these cheap tricks. I’ll give you two choices: either confess who put you up to this, or face torture. Which will it be?”

Just as she was about to confess, a child suddenly rushed to her side and sobbed desperately, “Mom, mom, please don’t die!”

Les declared,

This outcome was exactly as Athena had anticipated. She knew that it was likely the Monson family had already appointed someone to take the fall if they had the guts to pull this off.
