Chapter 84
Lycannar
I paused at the foot of the stairs, staring at the dining hall. She was not yet back.
“Lycannar.” My eldest sister rose from her seat, eyes fixed on me. “Zephyrine left already.”

I said nothing for a long moment. I was surprised she had gone in such a hurry, without a word, without even a goodbye. My gaze dropped to the jewelry I had come to deliver, and I tucked it away, my heart heavy with strange, unfamiliar feelings.
Quietly, I began to make my way back to my tower, but Serena’s voice called from behind.
“Are you okay with Baron being your beta?” I turned to stare at her in silence. “He will share a vow with you and feel your energy. The kingdom will fall into his hands when you cannot rule. I know my uncle, Dareth. He didn’t perform any competition. He only seeks to rule through his son.”
I blinked gently and moved forward to the chair where I settled, remaining quiet, aware of my fatigue. Mearez reached out to me, but I pulled away from her hand. Slowly, I looked up to see horror etched across
her face.
“Lycannar… you used your curse again, didn’t you?” she asked, anger evident in her voice. I looked away.
“How do you mean?” Serena asked, curious. “We were all there when he broke the rule of his curse a week ago.”
Mearez did not answer; her anger rendered her speechless. She suddenly turns to leave, but I shot up to block her path.
“Mearez, I am fine.”
“Get out of my way, Lycannar. I won’t say it again.” Her glare was sharp, full of fire.
Serena moved forward, worry etched in her features.
“What’s going on? Did he break the rule of his curse again?”
“It’s nothing,” I muttered softly. Serena froze, shocked.
“You broke the rule of your curse again, right after surviving agonizing pain? Why?!” she demanded. I sighed, exhausted.
Their anger softened into concern, and Mearez took my hand, guiding me down into the chair.
“How do you feel? Lycannar… does your life mean nothing to you?”
“I can’t die. Don’t worry about it,” I muttered, lowering my head and trying to fight the pain. I felt Serena’s palm rest gently on my arm, and I sighed softly, appreciating their presence and support.
“If you ever use your curse like this again, I will inform my brother Hades,” Mearez warned. I slowly lifted my gaze to her.

I didn’t want that. Hades was as kind as he was unforgiving, and he had made me promise never to put myself through such pain again. But I could not stand aside while those close to Zephyrine suffered or die.
“I’m sorry I made you both worry,” I murmured. Silence settled around us, but Mearez’s hand stayed warm on mine, Serena’s palm soothing on my shoulder.
