The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 629

Chapter 629: National Treasure

Knees weak, ears ringing as though struck by a gong, the Imperial couple who ruled the Empire of Solaris were too floored to react.

But Marshal Julian? Oh, he understood that feeling perfectly.

Only this time, he was glad beyond measure that it wasn’t exactly his problem. Because, unlike him, these two unfortunate monarchs had to consider everything. And thank the stars above that he was not in their position.

"Brother, are you absolutely positive about this?!" the Empress demanded, practically clawing at the collar of her otherwise impeccable uniform like she was struggling to breathe.

"Your Majesty, as a generally pessimistic person but a measured optimistic soldier, this is as positive as I can get," Julian replied grimly. "Not to mention, I, together with an entire audience, watched live as the mecha was made from scratch."

The Empress’s voice cracked. "How is this even possible?! And how did you end up with a mecha made for an exam?!"

"None of us were sure," Julian admitted. "And judging from the reactions of the other master mechanics, none of them were sure either. But we saw it with our own eyes."

He exhaled heavily, as if reliving the moment all over again. "As for how I got the mecha... it would be best to ask a certain Imperial Crown Prince who stared—actually, glared—until I accepted."

A shiver ran down his back just remembering it. The weight of that glare, the suffocating pressure. He was still thankful he had bitten the bullet and accepted. Because truly, how many tears would he have shed if he had let the opportunity to own such a mecha slip through his fingers?

Then again... how many tears would he be shedding now, from having to explain everything to these two?

"So you’re telling me there’s a whole group of people who are aware of this?!" the Emperor thundered. "And we’re just discovering it now?!"

They all stared at one another.

Julian could practically see the realization dawning in their eyes. The reason wasn’t incompetence—it was circumstance. The Emperor and Empress had been away on a delegation, negotiating with different races. Information couldn’t possibly be sent across dangerous borders where interception was a constant threat.

If such secrets had slipped through their fingers and landed in foreign hands, wouldn’t their fury have been even greater?

Still, who could have predicted this?

Who could have imagined that in such a short span of time, so much could develop?

Julian swallowed, his throat dry. He hadn’t even begun to tell them about the aquaponics complex.

But... wouldn’t he die if he mentioned that now??? 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

So he just stuck the most pressing matter, after all this was happening today, whether they liked it or not.

"About that, Your Majesty... with the shock of everything, people hadn’t actually gotten to see the mechas made during the exam being rated. Before this, only three people from military HQ, including me, were aware of the mecha’s ratings."

"So the others aren’t as certain as you?"

"Ideally, yes. But the master mechanics would know better as people who are capable of building mechas themselves. They may not have this as proof, but they would definitely be able to speculate."

The Emperor’s eyes narrowed. "Wait, Marshal. I was sure I heard you right earlier. You said ’mechas made during the exam.’ Are you seriously saying more than one was made?"

Marshal Julian nodded gravely. "And it was a new classification, too. Which is why, in my opinion, even if this unclassified mecha ended up being made by someone else, that cadet would still be considered a national treasure. Though, considering the owner of this mecha and the owners of the other registered mechas, we might truly have the right person."

Certainly.

Most definitely.

A person that young would be considered a treasure anywhere.

And at the very least, what they were about to see with their own eyes would make him the most important kind of treasure—their son’s.

For now, however, the Emperor and Empress looked like they were about to be sick.

Thoughts collided everywhere. The security of the person. The security of the Empire. The sheer impossibility of it all. And yes, the random and infuriating question of just how their stoic son had ended up attached to someone like Luca Kyros.
