The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 726

Chapter 726: The Underwater Heist

Then again, even when considering all the heroic deeds in the past few days, who could possibly be cooler in the eyes of their money-grubbing son who had just been presented with the glowing rock of his dreams?

Well, who else but his husband and said husband’s guardian mecha, who had done absolutely everything in their power to make sure the entire cluster of crystal cores was taken as spotless as possible.

And from what Duchess Amelia heard, it hadn’t been easy.

First off, after realizing that the monster was sneakily shuffling its core around like a thief hiding loot, they decided to use Resonance Marking—the unique ability of Xavier’s SS-grade beast core that would leave behind a faint resonance mark, allowing subsequent shots to hone in on the mark with absurd precision.

In theory, that alone should have been brilliant. But in practice, and in that situation... not so much.

The greatest issue they ran into was drag and water resistance.

Sure, Xavier’s weapon could fire underwater by consciously coating each round with spiritual energy. Using supercavitation, he could forcefully create an air pocket around the projectile to make it travel cleanly through water.

But there was a catch.

The monster had apparently evolved to detect even the faintest shifts in the water’s movement. Then again, without eyes to see, such a monster would likely have only survived due to such unique abilities.

So, while the cluster wasn’t hidden immediately, the moment it got too close, the crystal core would disappear as if relentlessly teasing them.

Even worse, whenever the core hid itself inside one of those monstrous tentacles, getting to it became an absolute nightmare. The core would end up lodged inside the thickest parts, practically unreachable.

And then came the unforgettable commentary.

In the sage yet eternally embarrassing words of one mop:

"It’s too firm! Every time I jack it with my tool, it just tenses! I thought tentacles were supposed to be limp! It keeps flexing when it moves!"

At least two people were praying for the line to be silenced.

And the same two men—Kyle and Xavier—had to pause for several seconds just to process what they’d heard, while the others continued on with life without the same mental baggage.

However...

As mortifying as that line had been, it somehow sparked an idea.

Because of those highly questionable words, they realized that if the core was too hard to reach when hidden within the tentacles, then maybe they could nudge it to pick another hiding spot.

If they could just drive it into a specific area—a location much easier to manage—then won’t it be easier to deal with it?

And that was how they came up with what was, by all accounts, a completely insane plan.

In the end, the Imperial Crown Prince calmly assigned everyone to a quadrant after confirming that Luca had successfully persuaded the Duke to join them as their very own walking detection device.

"Master, will it work?" asked the guardian mecha, curiosity mixing with mild disbelief at what it was hearing.

"Theoretically, it should," replied the prince, whose voice was far too composed for someone about to perform a deep-sea heist. "But to make this work, we’ll need to attack differently."

And while that could’ve been a fun (not) job for anyone, unfortunately for the unlucky heavy mecha pilot—who, to his eternal regret, realized too late that he hadn’t worn his lucky underpants—Jax happened to have the best defensive capabilities in the entire group.
