Chapter 15
That last jab clearly struck a chord with a ton of people.
Forget who started what in this whole fight mess for a minute. A spar between a few girls shouldn’t mean calling in outsiders to throw down.
A sweet, goody–two–shoes type pulling in off–campus muscle for a brawl! Yeah, that’s a hard |
Most folks on the school forum had Briar pegged as a moody, unhinged loner
But seeing her in person, It was not that clear–cul
I pass
Upon stage, reading her apology with a sly, carefree smirk, she didn’t scream “model student.” Total villain! Nah, not quite.
People couldn’t help but fall for a pretty f
face
And Briar’s looks? They make it tough to buy the “bad guy” rumors, no matter what’s floating around.
Over in the admin building. Enzo pointed at Briar on the stage. “There she is!” he said.
Briar’s got that vibe–face, figure, everything pops. Even from across the quad, barely making out her silhouette, Enzo clocked her instantly.
Next to him. Cyrus sat in his wheelchair, eyeing her through the window.
His gaze sharpened. “She’s cute”
“Cute? Man, that’s an understatement!” Enzo said, hyped. “She hits Hollywood, that face is a meal ticket for life!”
“Stunner like that, though–too bad her mouth runs wild, he added silently.
“Hey Cyrus, you just got out of surgery. You sure you should be out here?” Enzo asked.
Black Mamba didn’t pull punches, and Cyrus got hit hard. Without that bulletproof vest, they’d have fished him out of the bay.
Enzo was afraid Black Mamba had already got Cyrus in her sights. Rolling out now was a gamble.
I’m fine. She won’t try anything,” Cyrus said, cool as ever.
Enzo raised an eyebrow, “You sure! Strucze crew’s nuts, and Black Mambo’s the wildest. They say her right book’s 2,000 pounds–900 kilos! That’s pro boxer level. She could flatten a cow!”
Enzo shivered, thinking of the intel “Cyrus, look at you, man. If Black Mamba finds us, she won’t need a gun–she’ll just pound us into the ground”
Enzo rumbled, but Cyrus’s eyes stayed glued to the stage. Enzo waved a hand. “Yo, you even listening!”
“Shut it,” Cynis snapped, voice low, still watching her.
Enzo clammed up, caught off guard.
Cyrus’s eyes dropped, calm’again. “No way the International Medical Research Institute’s letting a rando handle deliveries, Check her out.”
“What? Nah, she’s just a feisty high schooler. Our real problem’s Black–Enzo froze under Cyrus’s icy glare.
“Fine, fine.” Enzo grumbled, hands up. “You’re the boss, big shot Whatever you say.
After Briar stepped off the stage, Rhen shot her a big thumbs–up. “Spinning total BS to a crowd of freshmen like it’s nothing! Girl, you’re killing it
Briar shrugged, blinking with fake innocence. “Hey, I’m the victim here, okay? I was freaked out, helpless, and super bunimed, alright?”
Rhea rolled her eyes hard. “Yeah, right, chill with the drama, princess.”If Briar was “helpless,” Imani was probably ready to lose it completely.
“You’re not scared the school’s gonna hassle you again” Rhea asked.
“Nah, I’m good.” Briar Blashed a quick grin. She’d clocked it from the start–Imand’s crew caused the mess, so it was not her deal.
Rhea shot her a look. You’re just asking for it.

Briar smirked, totally chill.
Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out, checked it, and her face shifted a bit
“Gotta dip real quick,” she said,
“Hey, wait—” Mae jumped in. “Boot camp’s this afternoon.”
“111 be back before it starts. Briar waved them off, already heading out.
Her phone rang, and she answered. “Lamb, you sure it’s the Wilkins family from Okwell City”
Articus’s slow drawl came through. “Yup, second heir of the Wilkins family. Runs with Okwell City’s inspection crew. Led the surgery gig at my place, but he didn’t grab the file
“No duh,” Briar scoffed. “Track him down. I’ll swing by for a chat when I can.”
“Got it but why’re you ghosting online? HQ’s buzzing–wants you back. Black Wolf’s taking the file case.”
Briar frowned. “What’s that mean?”
“No clue. Only a big shot could yank you like that”
“Ugh, I’ll log on and see- Mid–sentence, Briar spotted someone and squinted.
“Gotta go, Talk soon.” She hung up fast
Seeing Enzo, Briar let out a dry laugh. “What’s up? Drugs no good, and you want a refund? Tough luck. I don’t do retums. Take it up with the seller”
Enzo’s lip twitched. “Not that. The buyer wants to meet you.
“Cool, I’m down.”
Briar’s quick nod threw Enzo off. This girl’s way too chill about meeting a stranger. No fear of trouble?
