Chapter 32
Just when all the freshmen were looking forward to heading to the training base, Limond City was suddenly hit by a heavy downpour at the beginning of September.
Rhea was brushing her teeth on the balcony. Seeing the scene outside the window, she called out to the three girls in the dorm. “It’s raining!”
Briar stretched lazily and said slowly. “Perfect. One less day of boot camp
“Oh my God” Mar sounded disappointed. “I really wanted to check out the training base. I heard they’ve got real guns there.”
Ar that, Briar shot her a sideways glance. “Even if they are real guns, they’re loaded with blanks.
“The whole point
is to hang a sandbag on the barrel an you can hold it while practicing shooting stance. Might as well be holding a slick”
Mae blinked. “No way. Mr. Miller said we’d be doing live fire exercises.”
1 never even touched a real gan before–I’m actually looking forward to it Mae thought.
Briar let out a small laugh. “Don’t believe me?”
Mae didn’t answer. For some reason, she had a feeling everything Briar sald was probably true.
“But Briar, how do you know all this?” Mae asked.
Briar raised a brow. “You think they’re gonna put you soft and squishy kids through the wringer? Too much intensity would wreck you guys. Of course they’re gonna go with the usual baby steps”
Real military training wasn’t about standing at attention, marching in step, or jogging in circles.
Even target practice was basic stuff–light rifles with blanks, just for show. It was basically he entertaining children
But college e students weren’t expected to go to war anyway. Building a linde resilience was good enough.
Listening to Briar’s tone, Mae swallowed hard. “Briar, You sound like you really know your stuff”
“Son of,” Briar said, heading to the balcony, squeezing toothpaste onto her brush as she looked back at Mae. “I’m pretty familiar with boot camp- Type stud.”
After the four of them had breakfast in the dining hall, they thought the rain would buy them a day off.
But before they could even make it back to their dorm, the teacher dropped a message in the class group chat.
[Due to the weather, today’s boot camp will be held in the classroom instead. Pleise be in Room 102 of Building F by 8am]
“Huh?” Mae looked devastated. “It’s had enough we can’t go to the training base, but now we’ve gotta sit in a classroom? What’s the point of boot camp in a classroom?”
Jolene glanced at the time on her phone. “Come on, let’s go. The third floor’s all shared classrooms. We’re not the only class, an we better grab seats early”
“Briar, Rhea, Jer’s go?” Jolene said.
“Yeah” Briar had her head down looking at her phone, She responded absentmindedly and followed the group out
Late last night, Ronan sent her a friend request.
Briar hadn’t changed her local number, and after blocking that family of three a few days age, barely anyone contacted her through it
Briar thought for a moment, then accepted the request. [What do you wani“|
The reply came quickly. [Briar, I went home last night, Mom and Dad said you came back and hit Imani again.]
Bear: (What, you here to scold me now?)
Korun [That’s not what I mean. I know better than anyone what Imani is like, but still, hirting someone never solves a
anything.]
Ronin (You’re not a kid anymore. You should really think things through]
Staring at the screen, Briar actually laughed out loud.
Rhea and the others glanced over, startled. Briar quickly waved them off to show it was nothing.

Chapter 32
Briar [No kidding. I don’t need you to tell me hitting people isn’t the answer.
Briar: [But Imani’s nobody. I hit her, so what? What’s she gonna do about it?]
Briar thought, I am not a child anymore. Of course I understand that mach. But some people just don’t deserve me consideration
Ronam Just take care of yourself]
Briar didn’t respond. She stuffed her phone in her porket and walked into the classroom with the others.
Inside a private shuttle van, Ronan stared at his phone screen.
When no more messages came after a
a long while, Ronan finally locked the screen, gripping the phone in disappointment.
Elijah glanced at him nervously. “Ronan, I checked just now. Director Walsh’s team offered you the second male lead
“But we’ve gotta do a quick audition first, just for formality
Ronan gave a quiet “Mm, not saying another word
Elijah continued, “Your sister’s really something. I heard she knows Ms. Davidson personally. They seem pretty close. With Ms. Davidson backing
ber, whatever resource you want, it’s just a word from her.”
“Shut up!” Briar kicked the guy to the ground and stared down at him coldly.
“I mean I’m just trying to help you!” Ejah muttered.
Ronan took a deep breath. “Favors in this industry don’t come free. Even if she knows Ms. Davidson, business is business, Friendship’s something ebe.
“A guy like her if she’s offering her that much, there’s no way she doesn’t want something in return.”
Elijah shrugged. “Your sister looks like money. Anyone in the biz can see it. If she joins the industry, even if the docent know how to do anything. she could blow up just by building a persona. Ms. Davidson’s probably trying to sign ber
Honestly, Elijah didn’t think that was a bad thing.
Starlight Entertainment was one of the top three entertainment giants in Cordaland. People fought tooth and nail to get in
If Briargot signed personally by Cynthia, it wouldn’t take long before she was everywhere.
Roman said, “She’s got a te
a temper. She’s not the type who’ll survive in this circle. Don’t get any ideas about her?
