The Silent Luna's Trial (Maple and Finn) novel Chapter 66

Audrey inhaled deeply, steadying her nerves before making her way up the stairs. The moment she stepped inside the room, Chloe rushed toward her, throwing herself into her mother’s arms with desperate urgency.

“Mom, have you found Tessa yet?” Chloe’s voice trembled, filled with a flicker of hope that Audrey found hard to share.

Audrey’s gaze was icy as she shook her head slowly. The hope that had briefly lit up Chloe’s face vanished instantly, replaced by a shadow of disappointment that darkened her features.

“How many days has it been now?” Chloe muttered bitterly, her voice thick with frustration and anger. “Tessa did this on purpose—she wanted to destroy me and then just walk away. But I won’t let her get away with it.”

“Why do you harbor such hatred for your sister?” Audrey’s tone was sharp, cutting through Chloe’s words like a blade.

Chloe froze, startled by the unfamiliar sharpness in her mother’s voice. She had never seen Audrey look at her with such intensity.

“It’s Tessa who hates me!” Chloe snapped back, her anger flaring. “She humiliated me in front of everyone.”

“I am the future Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack,” Chloe declared loudly, her voice trembling with righteous fury. “If she insults me, she’s insulting the entire pack. I won’t let her walk away from this.”

Audrey remained silent, her face unreadable as she studied her daughter carefully.

“Isn’t it you who first stole your sister’s boyfriend? You cheated on her with her mate,” Audrey’s voice cut through Chloe’s defenses, cold and accusing. “Tell me, what exactly has Tessa done to deserve this?”

For the first time, Audrey felt a fierce anger toward Chloe that she hadn’t expected, and it shook her deeply.

Chloe’s face shifted, her usual bravado crumbling as Audrey’s words sank in, leaving her feeling exposed and vulnerable.

“Mom, why are you siding with her? I’m your daughter!” Chloe cried, frustration and hurt rising in her voice.

Audrey’s eyes narrowed in resolve. Without saying another word, she grabbed a diary from the table and hurled it toward Chloe.

“Do you still think you can fool me? Pretending to be my real daughter all these years? Using Tessa’s story to deceive me?” Audrey’s voice trembled with a mix of anger and disbelief. “How dare you claim to be my true child?”

Chloe’s eyes widened in shock, unable to believe they had uncovered the truth. She had been so meticulous, so careful to hide everything—how could they have seen through her lies?

She opened the diary and scanned the pages filled with confessions and details, her eyes growing red as anxiety gnawed at her nerves.

“So what if this is Tessa’s way of trying to drive a wedge between us?” Chloe snapped, her voice defensive but shaky.

Audrey let out a bitter laugh, unimpressed by the feeble excuse.

“Then tell me, where is the halfmoon-shaped necklace I gave you when you were born?” she demanded.

Chloe froze at the mention of the necklace, then forced a laugh to mask her discomfort.
