Chapter 634

Jamison asked, So is she staying in the hospital, or did she leave?

She’s still here. Insisted on being admitted, actually. And she demanded we use the best medication to prevent a miscarriageBut Dr. Ludwig, she hasn’t paid her

medical bills, and she’s HIV positive. This is a real headache!

The OBGYN muttered under her breath, clearly unhappy about having this problem dropped in her lap by Jamison.

She has family. Tell her to contact them and have someone come pay the bill. If she refuses, call the police.Jamison’s tone was cold and firm.

Understood. The doctor only grumbled because she didn’t know what this patient’s connection to Jamison was. Now, hearing his clipped, authoritative response, she finally relaxed.

After hanging up, Jamison changed out of his white coat and headed home.

By then, the bodyguards Boyd Ludwig had arranged were already stationed at Ivy’s side.

Jamison wanted them to keep a low profile, worried Ivy would be uncomfortable being followed around like some celebrity. But Ivy was more practical than he’d given her credit for: she asked Boyd for the guardscontact info, called them herself, and told them to stick close and help her carry her things.

When Jamison arrived at the restaurant to meet his wife for dinner, he was momentarily taken aback by the sight of two hulking men seated at her table. For a split second, the scene reminded him of one of those wealthy women who keep young male companionsa mental image that immediately called to mind Baillie Windsor’s notorious benefactress.

Ivy explained, It was my idea. It’s easier if they just stick with me. But when we’re on campus, I told them to ditch the black suits and sunglasses. They look too much like mobstersso I just bought them a couple sets of tracksuits. From now on, they’ll blend in as college guys.

That way, she’d finally get some peace from all the guys at school hitting on her.

Jamison couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. He sat down, eyeing his wifethis situation was justimpossible to judge! On the one hand, it was dief, on the other, he couldn’t help but feel a stab of jealousy.

After Ivy finished speaking, the two bodyguards picked up on Jamison’s mood and

immediately stood up to bow politely. Mr. Ludwig, Mrs. Ludwig, please enjoy your meal. We’ll be nearby if you need us.

As they left, one of them turned back and bowed again. Thank you for your generosity today, ma’am.

Ivy waved it off. Don’t mention it. Just take the clothes with you.”

Thank you, ma’am.

They gathered the shopping bags from the chairs and relocated them to a table behind.

Jamison shook his head again, finally unable to resist a playful jab. I never thought I’d see the day you bought clothes for other menespecially men who spend more time with you than your actual husband.”

Ivy grinned. If it really bothers you, just send them away.”

No way. They’re sticking with you, whether I like it or not. Emma and the Carters are both loose cannonsEven while sulking, Jamison knew better than to risk her safety.

Ivy knew he was just talking tough. In reality, he was a hundred times more anxious about her than he’d ever admit. She chuckled and offered him a bit of flattery, Relaxthere isn’t a man in this whole city who could hold a candle to you. I’m not about to go looking elsewhere.”

Jamison raised an eyebrow. So, whatyou’d only consider it if you found someone better outside the city?

Ivy rolled her eyes and tossed the menu at him. Just order dinner already, I’m starving!
