The Witches novel Chapter 13

{Kelsey P.O.V}

I swear to God. I hate Jacob, my little brother. He made a mess in the house, paint splashed against the walls, furniture scattered throughout the flat. Dad and Jill will kill me. Especially since I was supposed to be home thirty minutes ago, that's the time his nanny clocks out. I thought I could chill with my friends for a few minutes before coming home. It wouldn't make a big difference, but it did. I took off my shoes and hung my coat before I fully entered the living room area. The couch's pillows laid all over the place and the tv smoked. I couldn't believe my eyes, it was a mess.

"Jacob!"

His laughter could be heard throughout the apartment. He ran into the living room with a broad smile on his face. The first thing I noticed was that he had a wand in his hand. I don't know if it's dad's or Jill's, either way, a wand in the hand of a child is dangerous and even more dangerous if the child isn't blessed with magic yet. My big sister alarms ticked. He could kill himself or me.

"Jacob, give me the wand,"

I asked. He stared at me in silence, then he shook his head. "No," the six-year-old spat.

This both scared and worried me. I ran after him but he ran away. He was hyped up and very fast. He ran into dad's office. Which was also a mess. His papers laid all over the place, his files, his furniture. This isn't good.

Jacob stood behind the curtain. He probably didn't think that I'd know exactly where he'd be, but I did so I made my way slowly over the to curtain. I didn't want to alarm him before he makes an even bigger mess. I reached the curtain and quickly pulled it opened it. He giggled and the wand lit up and next thing I knew I was blasted by it. He gasped and dropped the wand. He must've thought that he hurt me because he ran away. Thank God. I picked up the wand and went up to dad's room and placed the wand on their bed.

I turned around and looked directly in their mirror and screamed the second I saw it. My pitch-black hair was hot pink. Hot fucking pink. I hate pink.

"JACOB!" I love Jill's child but he drove me insane and I couldn't take it anymore.

"KELSEY!" my father called from the living room and I was just as livid as he was.

I rushed over to him with tears streaming down my cheeks. "I HATE THIS! I HATE YOU AND I HATE JILL," I let it all out in one breath and sighed, "dad. I got the calling this year and I'm moving to Meledsan, I'm moving into mom's old house. It's mine anyway,"

My dad remained silent. It seemed as If though he didn't have anything say so he nodded his head. He opened his arms and I walked over into his hug. He kissed me on my head and pretty soon we could feel Jacob's little arms forming a group hug. I giggled. I love that child so much. I released the hug to kiss him on his forehead and picked him up.

"He found one of your wands and went crazy. I just came from school and found this mess,"

Dad sighed. He already seemed tired and now he has to deal with this mess as well but maybe there's a spell that can clean this mess up. The thought of finally being able to use magic made me excited, I've been studying it through the books and mainly from mom's grimoire and I even know what I want to major in. The book has many useful tips that I can't wait to try. Many witches pass down their grimoire from generation and mom made sure that I get the book I so deserve.

She had it in a box titled, For Kelsey, I was supposed to open it when I get to practise real magic but dad gave me the box when I was six.

No one knew what was in that box, not even dad and it has nothing to do with him too. Now I'm going to move to Meledsan and live in mom's old home. Maybe that will bring us even more closer.

Dad did know a spell to make it disappear and had the mess restored to its original state, as for my hair? Unfortunately, it couldn't be fixed and I'm starting school soon. I don't want to walk around campus looking like a clown.

I tried magic. I tried washing it. I tried dying it back to my mom's natural hair colour but nothing worked. I've lost her black hair and this wasn't sitting well with me.

I gave up. There was nothing that could remove the pink hair and I was going to have to work with it.

We walked up to the porch, it was covered in spider webs and dust. I removed the key from the chain on my neck and opened the door. We both coughed upon entry, it was covered in thick dust.

"Wow," Margot said as she waved dust particles away from her face. "This is a huge place. Cleaning it will be a bitch,"

I laughed. It will be. Margot dropped my things and waved her wand over it and it instantly started growing again. I had all my things in my house. That sounds so grown of me to say.

Margot said she couldn't stay any longer. She has other students to help out leaving me alone with my new mansion. I walked through the house. The entrance area was huge and impressive.

The whole furniture was covered under white cloths and I took it off to see the most beautiful vintage sofas and tables. I opened the curtains of the lounge for natural light and looked at how neat the place was, it was just the dust that was going to be a problem. I walked through the house getting to know each part of it. The kitchen was huge, it looked like a chef's kitchen, my favourite feature was the pizza oven. I had plates, pots and everything else a kitchen would need.

I walked down the hallway and saw many portraits of the women in mom's family. Mom was also on the wall along with grandmother and so on. I feel like I should also get a portrait of myself and hang it next to mothers.

I found my bedroom. It was bigger than my old lounge. There was a large Kingsize bed. There were bedside tables and a beautiful makeup table that had much perfume standing on it and makeup. There was a jewellery box with the most beautiful pieces in it.

The room and an ensuite bathroom of course and it were huge. A large bathtub and a large shower that I can't wait to use. There was a closet with many towels, face cloths and so on. Toothbrushes, hairbrushes. Very helpful.

I walked out of the bathroom to walk into the massive walk-in closet. My clothes can currently only fill a fraction of this. Mother and her ancestors lived an expensive life. How was I going to keep up? I'll be needing a job to help me survive even though dad said he'd give me anything I need and want but I must do this on my own. Because I can.
