Their Hidden Princess (Zora) novel Chapter 151

“Get off her!” he bellowed, his voice cracking under the weight of desperation.

With a surge of adrenaline, he propelled himself to his feet, his heart racing as he sprinted toward the two figures locked in a deadly embrace. The armored figure, with an air of malevolence, raised a hand, and in an instant, Valentin felt an unseen force lift him off the ground. He soared backward, colliding with the earth with a bone-jarring thud. Stars danced in his vision as he struggled to rise, the scene before him etching itself into his memory forever.

Renault loomed over Zahara’s fragile form, his lips stained crimson as he wiped the remnants of her life from his mouth. Zahara’s once-vibrant eyes, now a haunting shade of lifeless honey gold, stared vacantly into an abyss. Her chest heaved in shallow, desperate gasps. Beside them, Victoria’s anguished wails pierced the air, a symphony of sorrow that echoed through the desolate surroundings. Valentin felt a surge of fury and grief, propelling him toward Renault once more.

“I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU!” he roared, each word dripping with venomous rage.

Renault’s lips curled into a mocking smile, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “I’d like to see you try,” he taunted, raising his hand once more. Valentin felt the force of dark magic slam into him, sending him crashing to the ground yet again. The vampire licked the remnants of blood from his lips, his crimson eyes narrowing as they locked onto Valentin’s.

“She always was the sweetest,” Renault murmured, his tone chillingly casual. “But you already knew that.”

Determination surged through Valentin as he fought to regain his footing, grasping the sword tightly in his hands. His heart sank when he saw Renault carelessly drop Zahara’s body to the ground, her once-bright eyes now dull and unseeing. A shudder ran through Valentin’s body as he inhaled sharply, the weight of despair settling heavily in his chest. But there was no time for grief; he charged at Renault once more, sword raised high, aiming for the vampire’s head.

In a swift motion, Renault caught the blade with one hand, as if it were nothing more than a child’s toy. A plume of smoke curled up from his palm where the metal met his skin, yet he remained unfazed, his expression one of bored amusement. With a flick of his wrist, he yanked the sword away, sending Valentin sprawling to the ground yet again.

“I’m becoming bored very quickly, Valentin,” Renault mused, his voice dripping with condescension.

“Why?!” Valentin cried out from the dirt, his face wet with tears he hadn’t even realized he was shedding. “Why, you fucking monster!? Why her!?”

“Why her?” Renault sneered, stepping closer to loom over Valentin with an air of superiority. “Need I remind you how you ignited this pathetic excuse for a war?”

With a cruel grin, he pressed his foot into Valentin’s sternum, the weight of it crushing down like a boulder. Valentin gasped, feeling as if the very essence of life was being squeezed from him. He thrashed beneath the vampire’s boot, desperate to escape the suffocating pressure.

“You take what is mine,” Renault hissed, his voice a low growl. “And in return, I take what is yours. It’s the only way you’ll ever grasp the seriousness of this situation.”
