Chapter 93
Brian lelt a massive relief wash over him and Immediately texted Janice for advice. He was convinced that Jessica’s recent cold shoulder towards Madeline had everything to do with her pregnancy hormones
After all, Jessica had menteerd Madeline from the art and always looked out for her.
Jessica was unaware that Brian was determined to win her back and that he assumed her hustration with him and their son stemmed solely from hormonal changes.
“Ugh!” She stretched as she got up, then checked the time. It was 5:10 PM. There was only half an hour left until it was time to get off work. She had finished most of her non urgent tasks,
Just as she debated whether to stay late, her phone rang. It was Jacob’s kids‘ smartwatch–using her secondary SIM card. Usually, he catted from his phone. Jessica hesitated before answering.
“Mom, when are you coming home? Grandma wants to know what you want for dinner.” Jacob’s excitement practically jumped through the phone.
Frowning, Jessica asked sharply, “Who dropped you off there?” She’d assumed Brian had sent him.
“…I missed Grandma’s cooking so I called and asked her to pick me up.” Sensing Jessica’s imitation, Jacob quickly made up an excuse
That explanation silenced Jessica. Of course Stella wouldn’t say no if Jacob wanted her home–cooked meals.
After a beat,
“Tell Grandma I’m working late.”
“Okay”
“Jacob, don’t give Grandma and Grandpa any trouble,” Jessica added, still uneasy
“I’m behaving” Jacob protested, hurt. His grandparents adored him, after all.
With nothing left to say, Jessica ended the call.

Meanwhile, at Hartdale International Bilingual School, Madeline rushed to the school gate high–flyer
Her good looks immediately drew stares from onlookers, but she ignored them, craning her neck to search the crowd.
As the last straggling students filtered out, Jacob was nowhere to be seen.
“He was pick

sago,” Jacob’s teacher said, eyeing Madeline with thinly–veiled judgment.
In her years of teaching, she’d rarely seen a
na mistress brazen enough to show up at school to collect the wife’s child.
“You ungrateful little bastard!” Madeline fumed as he slammed the car door shut. They’d made plans that morning, and now he’d ditched her without a
word!
The truth was, Jacob was acting on a whim. Aber Brian stayed out all night, Jacob couldn’t stop wondering if his parents were together. Thoughts of Jessica occupied him all day at school.
Just before dismissal, he called the number Stella had given him. The moment Stella heard his request, she promised to come get him right away.

Meanwhile, Brian was gearing up to smooth things over with Jessica. When he heard Jacob had gone to Grant Manor, he chuckled.
He was more certain than ever that divorce was off the table. Between Jessica’s pregnancy Dereck, there was no way they were splitting up
At Grant Manor, Jacob blinked back tears and scurried over to tell Stella that Jessica was stuck at work and wouldn’t make it home for dinner.
“Any cravings? I’ll have May whip something up.”
After hanging up, Jessica stared blankly at her desk for a moment before tidying it up.
“Ms. Grant, are you leaving?” As she stepped out, Carrie flashed a smile from behind her cleaning cart. The hallway floors sparkled, polished to a mirror- like finish.
