Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 109

Emily Evans 109

‘Sophia? What’s she got? That’s so amazing, Lucas thought. ‘Any marketing manager could roll out the same kind of plan. It’s not like Yadel Group would fall apart without her.‘

That night, when Lucas got back to the Cherry Grove, he saw Emily sitting on the living room couch, looking all gloomy

and out of it.

He walked over and sat down beside her. “Why the long face?”

‘Could it be that she knows Dad wants her to apologize to Linda?‘ he thought.

Emily had come back to Cherry Grove, waiting for the new clothes Richard bought for Sophia to arrive, hoping to keep them for herself.

But she waited and waited, and still no one from the store showed up. ‘What’s going on?‘ Emily thought. ‘Did Richard just buy those clothes to put on a show for me?‘

She’d called the shop that afternoon, and they’d confirmed the clothes had already been sent out, but for some reason, they still hadn’t made it to Cherry Grove.

‘Does Sophia have another place she’s staying at?‘ Emily couldn’t help but wonder.

She linked her arm through Lucas’s. “Lucas, do you think Sophia has another home behind your back?”

Lucas frowned, “She’s broke. How could she possibly afford to buy her own place?”

Over the years, the Evans family had never really cared about Sophia, so of course they wouldn’t give her money for a

house.

On top of that, he’d never given her any spending money, either. With just her salary from work, there was no way she could ever afford a place in Jelasburg.

Emily was baffled. “So why did the store say they sent the clothes, but they never arrived at Cherry Grove?”

Lucas raised a brow. “Maybe they dropped them off in the utility room or something, and you just didn’t notice?”

“No way, I’ve been parked on the couch all afternoon. If anyone came by, I would’ve seen them,” Emily said.

Lucas stood up and headed toward the utility room. Emily quickly followed behind him. When they reached the utility room, Lucas kicked the door open, and a cloud of dust billowed out, making them both cough.

Lucas waved his hand to clear the air and flicked on the light. The room was completely empty. Not only were the clothes from the store missing, but even Sophia’s personal belongings had vanished.

Lucas suddenly felt a wave of panic hit him. He spun around and charged upstairs, with Emily hurrying after him, totally at

a loss.

When they got to the master bedroom, Lucas tried the door, but it didn’t move an inch. That door had never been locked before, but tonight, it was locked up tight.

And just when he thought things couldn’t get any stranger, he realized the old door had been swapped out for a full–on security door.

Lucas kicked the door in frustration. “Call Sophia right now and tell her to get her ass back here.”

When did she change the door, and to a security door no less? Is she trying to keep him out? This is really infuriating,’ he thought.

Wendy saw the storm brewing on Lucas’s face and, not wanting to make things worse, hurried to call up Sophia as he’d demanded, telling her to get back home ASAP.

Sophia had no clue what kind of drama Lucas was pulling this time. She hung up and shut off her phone without a second thought.

Without missing a beat, she turned her attention straight back to her research, shutting out everything going on outside.
