Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 141

But if she had to grit her teeth and accept Linda into this family, it was like dumping burning coals right into

her chest.

Billy, I’ve told youif you want me to accept Linda into the family, you’ll have to bow in front of everyone here,” Helen demanded coldly.

Billy frowned and scoffed, What is this? Some relic from the dark ages?

If you won’t do it, then I’m leaving. The Westwood family’s already the town joketrust me, I’m not afraid of stirring up even more gossip for everyone to enjoy.Helen declared, putting on a show as she turned to walk

away.

Right at that moment, the Evans family showed up. Billy, not wanting to lose face in front of his inlaws, grabbed Helen’s arm.

Alright, whatevernow that the Evanses are here, lose the sour face and smile,he muttered.

Saying that, he released Helen and practically forced her to take his arm as they headed over to Charles and Margaret.

Charles and Margaret were followed by David and Emily.

Emily was dressed in a floorlength cherry blossom pink gown with a fitted waist, looking both innocent and elegant.

As soon as she stepped into the party hall, Emily frowned.

The place was dead quiet, nothing like the lively scene she’d pictured. There were only a handful of guests, and she didn’t recognize a single face.

Back in the day, whenever the Westwood family threw a party, the place would be packed with all the city’s big shots.

Emily thought, Just as I thought.

This is all because of that bitch Lindashe just had to stir things up with this stupid party, and now the whole Westwood family looks like a joke.’

Dad, Mom, David, I see Lucas. I’m going over to talk to him,Emily said.

Ever since that embarrassing scene at Cherry Grove, she’d been hiding out at the Evans residence, too scared to go anywhere near Sophia.

David watched Emily flit over to Lucas like a little butterfly, and it felt like a block of ice had settled in his

chest.

Emily fluttered over and looped her arm around Lucas, acting like nobody else even existed. She said, Lucas, why are you all alone? Where’s Sophia? Isn’t she with you?

Lucas instinctively glanced over at Sophia, only to see her sipping her juice, totally unfazed.

His face grew dark as he walked over arminarm with Emily. He said, Sophia, Emily just got herego get her some food.

Sophia shot him a frosty glare and snapped, Guess you haven’t gotten smacked around enough if you’ve already forgotten how much it stings.”

She really didn’t get what those two were always doingwhy did they have to show up in front of her time just to prove they existed?

It was like making her sick to her stomach was the only way they could feel good about themselves.

every

Emily blocked Lucas protectively, putting on her most innocent act. She said, Sophia, Lucas is still your husbandhow can you talk to him like that?

Oh, and how exactly should I talk to him?Sophia fired back, fanning the air dramatically in front of her nose. She added, I thought I kept smelling a reek of pissturns out you just walked in. Emily, did you forget what a shower is?

Emily’s face turned pale, then blotchy with anger. But when she realized Sophia wasn’t holding a knife and the Evanses were right there, she instantly got all bold, acting tough like nothing could touch her.

She whined, Lucas, look! Sophia’s bullying me.”

Lucas frowned, pulled free from Emily’s grip, and slung his arm around her waist. He snapped, Sophia, watch your attitude. Emily hasn’t done anything to you.

Sophia tilted her head, honestly confused. She said, I really don’t get you two. Why do you have to flaunt yourselves in front of me all the time? Wouldn’t it be easier if we all just minded our own business and stayed out of each other’s way?

Look who’s to blamesomeone who can never sit still and never listen.

Lucas was deliberately bringing Emily over just to make Sophia notice him, to rub salt in her wounds and force her to react.

Not for a second did he believe Sophia was really indifferent to him.

Lucas thought, Sophia has gotten better at acting like she didn’t care. If I keep provoking her, she’ll eventually slip up and reveal how she really feels.’

All that flashed in Sophia’s eyes was sheer irritationand outright hatred.
