Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 154

Chapter 154

Sophia’s expression was scornful. She’d always known to keep her wealth hidden, but she never imagined. she’d have to keep her talents under wraps, too.

I get it now, Lucas. You truly never let me down, she said.

After saying that, she gave him a hard shove and marched upstairs.

Lucas watched her cold and distant figure disappear, his fists clenched tight at his sides.

Wendy hurried over. Mr. Westwood, Ms. Emily Evans just got out of surgery. I heard she’s seriously injured. Aren’t you going to see her?

Lucas couldn’t put Emily out of his mind. He spun around and strode toward the front door, but after a few steps, he gave Wendy a quick, firm instruction.

Keep a close watch on Sophia. If she leaves the house, tell me immediately,he said.

Understood, sir,Wendy replied.

Sophia slept soundly through the night, and when she woke up the next morning, she felt refreshed and full of energy.

After getting dressed, she went downstairs and found no one around to spoil her mood, which just made her morning even better.

Once she’d finished breakfast, her phone buzzedit was Annabelle, letting her know she was already waiting outside Cherry Grove.

Sophia grabbed her bag and headed for the door.

Wendy quickly followed her out and blocked her way. Mrs. Westwood, Mr. Westwood said you have to stay home today. You’re not allowed to go anywhere.”

Typical,Sophia thought to herself. Wendy’s just the Westwood family’s lackey. She even tattled on me to Helen before.

Sophia shot Wendy a cold, disdainful look. Wendy, if you’re going to be staff, at least know your place. Stop spying on the family.”

Wendy looked flustered, her face bright red. Mrs. Westwood, I’m just following Mr. Westwood’s ordersyou can’t go out.

Sophia shoved her aside. If you think you can stop me, go ahead and try.

Seeing Sophia make for the door, Wendy rushed to block her path. Mrs. Westwood, as long as I’m standing here, there’s no way you’re going out and making Mr. Westwood a cuckold.

Sophia just thought she was insufferably annoying.

Her gaze flicked to a hoe leaning against a tree. She stomped over, grabbed it, and brandished it at Wendy, her tone fierce and threatening. Are you going to move or not?

Wendy stuck her chin out, defiant. You’ll have to walk over my dead body if you want to get out.

Sophia didn’t bother arguingshe raised the hoe and took a swing right at Wendy.

Wendy knew better than anyone how ruthless Sophia could be. Last time, she’d come at Emily with a cleaver -the living room tiles were still cracked from that, and no one had even gotten around to fixing them.

Seeing the hoe coming down toward her, Wendy let out a shriek and scrambled out of the way.

Sophia watched her scurry off, let out a derisive laugh, tossed the hoe aside, and marched off without a backward glance.

She didn’t stop until she was safely in Annabelle’s car, and they’d already driven off down the road.

Annabelle glanced over with a grin. What’s got you so amused? You haven’t stopped smiling since you got in.”

I’m just laughing at Wendy, playing the tough guy just because she’s got someone backing her up,Sophia replied.

Annabelle remembered Sophia mentioning Wendy beforethe woman was nothing but the Westwood family’s lackey, always sticking her nose in for her bosses.

She’s been with the Westwood family for ageswhy does she always have to stick her nose in other people’s business?Annabelle asked.

She totally looks down on me, still thinks I’m Lucas’s little doormat, always simping for him,Sophia replied.

Annabelle couldn’t help but cover her face, remembering how Sophia used to drop everything for Lucas back

then.

Honestly, you really were a total simp for him,Annabelle said.

Sometimes, when they were out for dinner, Lucas would call, and Sophia would drop her fork and rush off without a second thought.

Sophia had overheard Lucas’s buddies gossiping about her more than once, calling her a total simp.

Sophia snorted. Hey, who hasn’t had a moment where their brain just shortcircuits?

Annabelle laughed right at her. Well, look who finally admits she was out of her mind back then!

Just keep your eyes on the road. If you get tired, we can swap and I’ll drive,Sophia said.

Relax, Princess. I swear I’ll get you there and bring you home safe and sound,Annabelle replied with a playful grin.

By the time they arrived at Ginkgo Town, evening had fallen, and the sky was streaked with crimson as if it had been soaked in blood, turning half the heavens scarlet.
