Chapter 183
Richard cut her off. “If you keep acting all formal with me, I’m seriously going to get pissed”
Sophia let out a soft, amused smile.
She settled back onto the little stool, feeling how Lucas and Emily had turned the once chill vibe into a total
mess.
“It’s late. We’ve got to head home tomorrow, so you should call it a night, Mr. Sterling.”
Richard paused for a few seconds and gave her a gentle nod. “Alright. You get some rest, too.”
After watching Richard leave, Sophia sat on her little stool for a bit, letting the uneasy silence settle around her.
She took the flower crown from her head and started twirling it absentmindedly between her fingers.
Suddenly, a shadow loomed next to her, and before she could react, someone yanked the crown from her hands and hurled it far away.
Sophia didn’t even get a chance to stop them. She could only watch as the crown hit the ground, petals bursting everywhere.
Sophia shot a glare up at the culprit.
“Lucas, are you out of your damn mind?” Sophia snapped.
She started to bend down for the crown, but Lucas grabbed her wrist in a vice–like grip.
He yanked her back, pulling her flush against him and locking her in his arms. “Don’t even think about picking it up.”
Just seeing Lucas now made Sophia’s skin crawl.
‘How did I never see it before? He’s just a stuck–up, selfish jerk with nothing going for him except that stupid handsome face,‘ Sophia thought.
Luc
I wish I’d never met you,” Sophia snapped, loathing clear in her voice.
Shes.ammed her heel down on his foot, and Lucas winced, finally letting her go.
Sophia spun and hurried over to the flower crown. Just as she bent to retrieve it, Lucas seized her arm again.
“So you like flower crowns, huh? Fine, I’ll go pick you a bunch of flowers and make a new one myself,” Lucas muttered, stubborn and agitated.
Saying nothing more, he started dragging her out toward the edge of the camp.
His grip was like iron–no matter how hard Sophia struggled, she couldn’t shake him off.
Chapter 183
“Lucas, let go of me! Where the hell are you taking me?” Sophia demanded, her voice sharp with panic
‘Is this lunatic really about to drag me out looking for wildflowers in the dead of night again? Sophia thought nearly rolling her eyes in disbelief.
Once they left the camp, the place was deserted, and all around them was nothing but the wreckage left behind by the disaster.
Lucas dragged Sophia along the riverbank, and she stumbled after him, barely able to keep up.
Since she couldn’t shake him off, Sophia decided there was no point in making things harder for herself–so she just
Land went along.
“Lucas, do you even remember why I agreed to marry you back then?” Sophia asked, keeping her tone calm.
The night was so still that the only sounds were the roaring river and their footsteps echoing through the darkness.
Lucas frowned and replied, “Why?”
“Seven years ago, Ginkgo Town got hit by an earthquake. You should remember–you showed up as part of Yadel Group, bringing disaster relief supplies,” Sophia said, her voice emotionless.
At that time, Lucas had just started at Yadel Group, and his family made sure to pave the way for him, grooming him to be the positive face of the company.
Delivering those disaster relief supplies was the best way to promote the company’s image.
Lucas paused for a second. “Yeah, I remember. That was the first time we ever met.”
“Yeah. I was trapped under the rubble for seven days. The day I saw you, I’d just woken up–you were the first person I saw, and I thought you’d rescued me from the ruins,” Sophia said.
Lucas’s chest tightened. He stopped and turned to glare at her.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Lucas snapped, scowling at her.
Sophia let out a faint, awkward smile. “You already know what I’m about to say, don’t you?”

ight. Three years ago, when we met again and you suddenly decided to propose, I agreed without a thought–just because I believed you were the one who saved my life seven years ago,” Sophia said..
‘Turns out, I pinned my hopes on the wrong guy. But for those three years, I really did love you. Now, though? I’m finally wide awake—and honestly, I just don’t love you anymore,‘ she wondered.
Lucas jerked his hand away from her like he’d just touched a hot stove. “What are you even getting at?”
Sophia looked him straight in the eye, steady and totally unshaken.
“This is the place where we first crossed paths, Lucas. I don’t love you anymore–let’s end this and get divorced,” Sophia said, her words cold and final.
