Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 194

Chapter 194

Noticing Margaret was at a loss for words, Sophia gave a soft, mocking chuckle.

You guys really never fail to disappoint,Sophia sneered.

Margaret’s eyes flashed with panic as she racked her brains, trying to remember Sophia’s birthday.

But truth be told, she had never paid much attention to Sophiathere was no way she would even remember when her birthday was.

She opened the box, and inside were several cookies.

Margaret stood up with an awkward smile. Sophie, I made these cookies myself. Why don’t you try some and see if you like them?

Don’t bother putting on a fake show for me. Let’s just cut to the chasewhat do you really want?Sophia said.

Margaret stiffened for a moment, then sat back down. She said, Sophie, I know we’ve broken your heart these past two years, but your dad and I really do love you.

Emily was always with us growing up, so after she suddenly left, we just weren’t able to adjust. That’s why we ignored your feelings.

But trust mefrom now on, I promise I’ll be fair to both of you. I won’t let you be wronged again.”

Sophia leaned back against the pillow, never taking her eyes off Margaret as she put on her show.

Sophia thought, If this were a month ago, maybe I really would have believed her.

But nowSeriously? Only an idiot would believe her.

Margaret was as sly as evershe was just here to sound out Sophia’s attitude.

Sophia had paid a visit to Ginkgo Town.

They hadn’t figured out why she went, so they sent Margaret over to cozy up and sniff out her intention.

Sophia flashed a cold smile. Alright then, I’m done pretending.”

Margaret froze. What?

Honestly, I’ve never liked Emily. She’s always putting on that innocent act, always scheming and trying to break me and Lucas apart. Since you claim you want to compensate me, Mom, why not just kick her out of the Evans family?Sophia said.

She wanted to see if they would really throw Emily out of the Evans family just because of her words.

Margaret couldn’t believe Sophia was pushing things this far.

But remembering what Charles had told her, she could only force herself to keep it together, hiding her frustration.

Sophie, it’s not that I won’t do what you ask, but Emily’s birth parents abandoned her when she was just a kid. We still don’t know where her real family is, and if we throw her out now, she’ll be left out in the cold.

Sophia’s lips curled into a mocking smile.

Sophia scoffed. Honestly, I thought you would at least pretend to care, but you chose a random stray over your own daughter.

Forget it. It’s not like I ever believed you could be fair.

With that, Sophia put the pillow down, turned away from Margaret, and pulled the quilt over herself.

Margaret stared at Sophia’s back, gritting her teeth.

She hadn’t gotten what she wanted yetthere was no way she would leave emptyhanded.

And just what were you doing in Ginkgo Town? Do you realize how freaked out your dad and I were after seeing the news? It said that Ginkgo Town was basically the epicenter of the quakeyou nearly scared us to death!Margaret blurted.

You were probably just worried I didn’t die, weren’t you?Sophia shot back, her voice icy.

There it isas expected, she just couldn’t hold back any longer and is now trying to get something out of me, Sophia thought.

Margaret clenched her fists, holding back her temper, and spoke as nicely as she could. Come on, don’t say stuff like that. It really hurts.

Sophia wanted to kick her out.

She’s so fake. It honestly makes me want to puke,’ Sophia sneered inwardly.

Sophia stayed silent, so Margaret pressed on, Did you go back to see your adoptive parents?

I mean, they did raise you, so visiting them is the least you could do.

Sophia couldn’t be bothered anymore and shot Margaret a cold look. Done talking? Good. Then just leaveI’m trying to get some rest.

Margaret rambled on for ages, but couldn’t get Sophia to spill a single thing.

Feeling frustrated, she thought, That stubborn brat’s lips were sealed tight.

Margaret put on a concerned face. Alright then, take care of yourself. I’ll see you tomorrow again.

Without another word, she got up and strode out, her heels clicking crisply across the floor.
