Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 244

Sophia's eyes flashed with disgust as she waved her hand dismissively, as if she were shooing away an annoying fly.

She sneered, "How does a fly end up in such a high-class party hall—ruining the vibe?”

Lucas, furious, grabbed her wrist. He snapped, "Sophia, why are you acting all stuck-up?

"Now you're looking down on me, but back then you were practically begging for my attention, acting like a total simp."

They were standing behind the champagne tower, so they weren't really noticeable.

But ever since Lucas showed up and started a public spat with Sophia right across the room, all the guests were keeping an eye on them.

As soon as they ended up together in the same spot, the drama-seeking crowd could practically smell the gossip and started drifting over.

Sophia glanced up and spotted a few nosy guests pretending to grab snacks, but clearly just eavesdropping on the whole thing.

Sophia was so furious that she honestly could've killed Lucas on the spot.

“Let go of me!" she snapped.

She'd actually thought Lucas was at least a human being, but clearly she'd given him way too much credit.

She seethed inwardly, ‘Could someone really stoop this low?’

"Lucas, did you really think | had some kind of instant crush on you?"

Sophia shot back, struggling against his grip, her anger boiling over.

She used to hold onto some hope, putting up with way too much for him.

But now, just seeing his face annoyed the hell out of her, and she had zero patience left for his crap.

Lucas's eyes widened in shock. He asked, "What do you mean?"

Sophia noticed more and more people gathering, and she definitely didn't want to become the center of attention.

She flashed a cold smile and whispered, "Back during the earthquake in Ginkgo Town seven years ago, | saw you."

Lucas looked at her, catching a cold cruelty in Sophia's eyes. Every instinct screamed at him to drop her hand and walk away, to shut out whatever she was about to say.

But he couldnt stop himself.

"So you actually had feelings for me even earlier than | thought?” Lucas asked, his voice faltering for a moment.

Sophia smirked and said, "No, | thought you were the one who pulled me out from underground. So when | saw you again and you proposed, | said yes.

“But when | went back to Ginkgo Town last time, | finally found out that you werent the one who saved me. Lucas, for the past three years, you've been nothing but a substitute."

"No, | don't believe it!" Lucas yelled, his voice cracking with disbelief.

He was on the verge of snapping.

Her love for him—he'd always thought that was the one thing he could count on.

Even now, with Sophia hell-bent on divorcing him, he kept telling himself it was only because he'd hurt her too much, and that she just needed time before she'd come back to him.

He insisted to himself that her feelings for him were real.

But she just called him nothing but a stand-in!
