Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 246

Sophia's warning bells went off in her mind, and she was just about to back away when the car suddenly swerved.

She fell straight into Richard's arms.

The minty sea salt scent overwhelmed her, and she heard Richard let out a muffled groan above her head.

Confused, she realized her lips had accidentally pressed against something.

She slowly lifted her gaze—and found herself staring at Richard's perfectly sculpted jawline. That's when she realized exactly what her lips were touching.

Her scalp tingled, and she hurriedly pushed herself away from him, bracing against his leg.

"I-I'm sorry, | didn't mean to,’ Sophia stammered, her cheeks flushing as embarrassment washed over her.

Richard swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing, and a sweet tingling rushed over his neck, leaving it numb in the best way.

His voice came out hoarse as he said, "It's fine.”

He couldn't help it—his ears were burning red, and his whole neck was flushed to the tips.

Sophia sat up straight, not even daring to sneak a glance at him from the corner of her eye.

She scolded herself, ‘Stupid mouth!

‘Seriously, of all places—why did | have to kiss him right there?’

Things were already awkward enough—now there was absolutely no way to explain this mess.

Up front, Harley glanced in the rearview mirror and met Richard's fierce, smoldering gaze.

Harley felt a chill run down his spine and quickly looked away, focusing on the road ahead.

"Sorry about that, Mr. Sterling, Ms. Evans. A stray cat suddenly darted across the road. Are you both alright?" Harley asked.

Sophia turned her head toward the window and quickly said, "I'm fine."

Richard adjusted himself, casually crossing his long legs, as if trying to cover up something he didn't want anyone to see.

He fixed his gaze on the blur of passing scenery outside, doing his best to settle the storm brewing inside him.

Half an hour later, the car pulled up to Richard's villa.

Sophia was the first to jump out, practically fleeing the scene. Richard watched her retreating figure and let out a quiet sigh.

He thought, ‘Did she sense something? Is that why she bolted so fast?’

Richard's eyes flickered with disappointment. He was just reaching for the door handle when, out of nowhere, someone swung the door open from the outside.

Sophia was standing right there, gripping her purse, her gaze anxious.
