Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 260

With that, she flashed Richard a triumphant grin and went off to peel the garlic.

Richard stood beside Sophia, watching her expertly fillet the fish.

Just as he was about to speak, a soft, lingering female voice echoed over, calling out, "Sophia."

If it weren't so dark out, that voice would've really sent a chill down Sophia's spine.

She looked up to find Emily standing across from her, her eyes full of resentment and sorrow.

Sophia frowned and asked, "Seriously? It's barely even dark out, and you're already out here haunting the place?"

Emily's eyes pooled with tears as she said, "Sophia, I have no idea where Lucas went. I'm all alone in the tent, and I'm scared. Can I stay with you guys, please?"

Sophia didn't hesitate for a second. She replied, "No."

Emily's eyes went big and doe-like, flashing with panic as she stared at Richard.

"Mr. Sterling, I'm really scared here all alone. Could you maybe ask Sophia to let me stay with you guys?" she begged.

Richard said, "No."

Emily clenched her teeth, frustrated-she hadn't expected Richard to show not even a shred of gentlemanly grace.

She didn't bother asking anymore, just stood there with her eyes fixed pitifully on Sophia, hoping someone might take pity on her.

She refused to believe they'd really go so far as to turn her away.

Annabelle peeled garlic as she threw shade, grumbling, "Some people really know how to play innocent."

Emily caught the hint but stayed silent, acting like she hadn't heard a thing

She figured if she just ignored them and pretended nothing was wrong, she could linger here as if she belonged.

And she could have the perfect opportunity to spike Richard's food or drink.

Annabelle shot Emily a look, then turned to Sophia. She said, "Ugh,

there are mosquitoes everywhere. That buzzing is driving me nuts."
