Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 58

When Sophia finally regained consciousness, everything was dead quiet, with that musty tang of dust hanging in the air.

She struggled to open her eyes and realized she was sprawled out in a cramped, windowless utility room.

Then a shrill, biting woman’s voice rang out beside her. “Well, Sophia, you really are impossible to kill. Even after all that, you’re still alive.”

Just hearing that sour, snarky voice made Sophia’s hands itch. She wanted nothing more than to rip Emily’s face to shreds.

Sophia thought, I’ve fought so hard to escape them, so how the hell did I end up back here? Is there really no escape from Lucas’s grip? Am I just destined to be stuck with him and Emily forever?‘

Sophia felt desperate. She didn’t make a scene or resist. Instead, with her voice steady and cold, she asked, “What did you do to Annabelle?”

Emily snickered. “She wanted to slap me, so you know Lucas–he gave it right back, and didn’t hold back, either. Tsk, you should’ve seen the mess. A couple of her teeth went flying. It was brutal.”

Sophia’s anger hit a breaking point, sending her into a fit of violent, wrenching coughs. Sweat broke out all over her, pouring down like she’d been drenched.

She locked her gaze onto Emily’s arrogant, self–satisfied smirk and, stifling her coughs, forced out the words, “So you’re done pretending now, huh? Not even bothering with the act anymore?”

Emily used to act all sweet and innocent, but now her true venomous self was on full display.

Emily suddenly grabbed Sophia by the neck, snarling, “Sophia, Lucas is only keeping you around to pop out kids for me. Listen, I’m the one he actually loves.”

Sophia stared back with a blank face. “So if I’m just a tool, what are you so anxious about?”

“You!” Emily squeezed harder, practically dying to choke the life out of her.

Right then, steady footsteps sounded outside the door. Emily’s expression suddenly changed, and she instantly released Sophia

Fresh air flooded Sophia’s lungs, and she broke out into a fit of violent coughs, wracking her whole body.

The next second, the utility room door burst open, and Lucas’s tall, imposing figure loomed in the doorway.

Emily scrambled to her feet, panic rising in her voice. “Lucas, weren’t you supposed to be at work? Why are you back already?”

“Let go of me!” Sophia snapped.

Lucas was seriously fed up with her always trying to run away the second she opened her eyes.

“You used to love me, didn’t you? Just a touch from me was all it took to get you worked up. What, you playing hard to get now?” he sneered.

Sophia felt sick just hearing him talk. She struggled, breaking out in a cold sweat, but she couldn’t budge him an inch.

Exhausted and gasping for breath, she shot a glare at Emily, who was standing off to the side, and said, “Are you just gonna stand there and watch him mess with me? How tolerant you are!”

Emily had been all full of herself a minute ago, but now that Lucas was here, she suddenly went mute and didn’t dare to say a word.

Emily stammered, “Sophia, you and Lucas are married. Whatever he does to you, it’s all perfectly legal.”

Sophia sneered. “Oh, so you do know the rules. Then why are you so desperate to be the other woman? How shameless.”
