Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 155

Zoey’s gaze glittered with a trace of malice as she watched Landon’s clenched jaw.

“If you already know, why bother asking me?” she replied, voice dripping with disdain.

Landon’s fists slowly curled tighter, knuckles whitening. His cold, steely eyes locked onto Zoey’s smug expression, and his words came out through gritted teeth.

“How long? How long has it been between them?”

Zoey rolled her eyes. “You really want to know? Why don’t you ask Zinnia yourself?”

With nothing but a frosty glance, Zoey turned on her heel and strode off. But after a few steps, she hesitated, pausing to look back at him.

“Landon, if you don’t love Zinnia, let her go sooner rather than later,” she called over her shoulder.

“Who says I—” The words caught in his throat before he could finish.

He pressed his lips together in a hard, thin line, glaring at Zoey.

“This is between me and Zinnia. It’s none of your business. Why don’t you worry about Chandler instead?”

He spat out the words with venom and stormed away, not sparing her another glance, his retreat almost frantic—like he was afraid if he lingered even a second longer, she’d say something else that would cut him right to the bone.

“Should I take you back to the office now?” the driver ventured, glancing back at Landon uncertainly.

The tension inside the car made Richie, the driver, shift uneasily in his seat.

Landon slumped into the butter-soft leather, rubbing at his pounding temples. “Take me to Royal Bay.”

Half an hour later, Landon stood in front of his own front door—the home he’d once shared with Zinnia.

For the first time, he’d lost the courage to go inside.

He hovered on the threshold, too hesitant even to key in the code. For a long moment he just stood there, feeling like a coward, his hand frozen above the keypad.

Finally, as though mustering every scrap of nerve left in him, he punched in the code. Even the soft click of the lock made his heart lurch in his chest.

He remembered her excuse that day—her surgeon at the hospital wouldn’t let her wear jewelry. But she’d always worn her ring when she wasn’t in surgery. Why the sudden change of heart?

Landon picked up the ring and clenched it tightly in his palm.

Another memory jolted him, and he strode to the guest room.

He pushed open the door and stopped dead.

The bed was neatly made. Every single trace of Zinnia was gone.

A wild panic set in. He began searching everywhere—drawers, shelves, closets—frantic for any sign of her.

But there was nothing. Not a single trace of Zinnia left behind.

“She’s really gone?” he whispered, standing alone in the empty living room, his voice thin and lost.
