The room fell into a heavy silence before Landon finally moved.
He lifted his gaze, his eyes cold and deep, as if glazed with frost, and fixed them sharply on Arrow.
“What man?”
His voice was low and hoarse, wrapped in an icy chill that made everyone present involuntarily shudder.
Arrow instinctively pulled his phone back and shoved it into his pocket, shaking his head frantically.
“It’s nothing, Landon. You misheard.”
He avoided Landon’s piercing stare, but he could still feel that icy gaze boring into him, making him squirm in his seat.
Seeing this, Connor, who was sitting next to Landon, dared not utter another word. He quietly reached for his own phone on the table, trying to hide it away.
But in the next instant, a slender hand snatched the phone from his grasp.
Landon held Connor’s phone tightly. “Unlock it.”
“Landon…”
“Now.”
Landon’s voice dropped another degree, colder than ever.
Connor didn’t dare hesitate. He quickly took the phone and unlocked it.
The moment he saw the photos Noelle had sent—Zinnia laughing freely, leaning close to an unfamiliar man—Connor’s face went pale.
“L-Landon, Zinnia isn’t that kind of person. There must be some misunderstanding.”
Landon said nothing, his bloodshot eyes locked onto the images.
His gaze burned as if he were bleeding from within.
So this is why she stood him up today?
Because of this man, she didn’t come to celebrate his birthday?
She had promised him.
She had promised him.
“But Zinnia—”
“She’s just having dinner with a friend. Nothing to make a fuss about.”
Landon’s tone was icy and controlled, as though nothing had happened at all.
Yet everyone at the table could sense the storm he was holding back, and it left them deeply uneasy.
“Don’t just sit there. Eat,” he said, forcing a thin smile.
“R-right, Landon.”
But despite his words, nobody touched their food with any real appetite.
Landon barely ate. Instead, he reached for the bottle of wine on the table and poured himself glass after glass.
Chandler, sitting nearby, quickly reached out to stop him.
“You just got out of the hospital for a stomach bleed a few days ago. Are you trying to end up back there?”
