To protect what's mine (Amalie) novel Chapter 176

**TITLE: Guard 176**

**Chapter 176: Amalie**

“Ama, wake up!” The urgency in Mark’s voice slices through the haze of my dreams, sharp and insistent, pulling me from the depths of slumber.

“Love, you need to wake up now,” Cal’s authoritative tone resonates with an intensity that sends a jolt of adrenaline surging through my veins. There’s no mistaking the Alpha’s presence; it demands attention and action.

“What’s happening?” I manage to murmur, my mind still clouded with sleep as I scan the dimly lit room, struggling to comprehend the gravity of the situation.

“Rogue attack,” Cal states with a firmness that brooks no argument, already swinging his legs over the side of the bed. His movements are swift and purposeful, a warrior ready for battle. “Markus is taking you to the pack house.”

The moment those words hit my ears, the shrill wail of a siren pierces the stillness, a sound I had unconsciously filtered out until now. It sends chills down my spine, amplifying the urgency of our plight.

“Get Rose!” Mark shouts, his voice slicing through the chaos as he scrambles off the bed.

My heart races, and I nod, adrenaline propelling me forward as I dash after him. He sprints toward Dad’s room, while I make a beeline for Rose’s. Bursting through the door with a forceful shove, it slams against the wall, startling Rose awake, her wide eyes reflecting confusion and fear.

“Come on, baby,” I urge her, my voice steady despite the turmoil surrounding us, wrapping a blanket around her small frame. We hurry back into the hallway, the tension thick and suffocating.

“Run!” Mark commands, his voice echoing down the corridor as he races toward the front door, determination etched into every line of his face.

“Dads?” I ask, glancing back over my shoulder, anxiety clawing at my heart as I desperately search for any sign of Mike or Will.

“They’re going to the hospital,” he reassures me, his grip on my hand firm and unyielding, anchoring us both amidst the chaos.

“Shouldn’t I go with them?” I question, my mind racing with worry as I struggle to keep pace with Mark.

The night is alive with howls and growls, a haunting symphony of danger that sends my pulse racing. I catch a whiff of the rogue’s scent before I even see it—a monstrous figure barreling toward us. Instinctively, Mark pulls me behind him, positioning himself as a protective barrier.

Before he can react, Sam’s wolf bursts onto the scene, Skol crashing into the rogue with a force that sends it staggering back. He latches onto the rogue, dragging it away from us, granting us a precious moment to escape.

Mark resumes his sprint toward the pack house, urgency propelling us forward. We burst through the entrance just as another rogue lunges at us. Mark pushes the door open with a fierce shove, shoving me inside, his voice booming, “Michelle!”

“Here, suga!” Michelle responds, rushing down the hall, her eyes wide with anticipation and determination.

“The safe room!” Mark orders, gently guiding me toward the Omega, his concern palpable in the air thick with fear.

Michelle nods, taking my hand and tugging me along as I glance back at Mark, my heart heavy with worry. “Mark, stay safe!” I call after him, anxiety gnawing at my insides.

He leans down, pressing a quick, reassuring kiss to my forehead before turning and dashing back into the fray.

“Mommy?” Rose’s small voice peeks out from the folds of the blanket, her eyes wide with fear and confusion.

“Come on!” Michelle urges, leading me swiftly toward the kitchen, her demeanor focused and resolute.

“Where are we going?” I ask, my heart racing as I try to keep pace with her determined strides.

“The closest safe room is in the kitchen area,” she explains, her voice steady, a beacon of calm amidst the storm.

Suddenly, two warriors come barreling down the staircase from the second floor, urgency etched into their faces, their expressions a grim reflection of the chaos outside.

“The second-floor safe room is filled and locked down!” one of them shouts, panic evident in his tone.

“Jeremy, go defend the front of the pack house!” Michelle orders, pushing me further into the kitchen. “Aiden, the back!”

The two warriors nod and dash off to their respective posts, leaving Michelle and me in the kitchen, where the tension is palpable, thick enough to cut with a knife.

“Ama!” Kim’s voice breaks through the chaos as she spots me, standing beside an opening in the wall that hadn’t existed earlier that day, a hidden sanctuary.

“Kim!” I exclaim, relief flooding through me at the sight of my friend. At least one of my friends is safe.

“Get in there!” Michelle urges, her tone brooking no argument, her eyes fierce with determination.

I step toward the opening when I hear heavy footsteps approaching. My heart races as I turn, scanning for the rogue that threatens us.

“Get in there!” Michelle insists again, her voice rising with urgency, a command I cannot ignore.

“The door won’t close in time!” Kim exclaims, pressing a button that begins the slow process of shutting the door.

She’s right. The door is heavy, and it feels like an eternity as it inches its way toward closure. The rogue is getting too close for comfort, and my heart pounds in my chest.
