too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian) novel Chapter 471

Kieran waited. After about two minutes, he received a reply.

Lila said, "Thinking of you."

His gaze softened slightly, as if a trace of warmth had surfaced deep in his eyes. She couldn't sleep because she was thinking about him?

After sending the message, Lila put down her phone and continued lying down. This time, it didn't take her long to fall asleep.

What she didn't know was that her simple message left the man across the ocean feeling restless for a long time.

The next morning, Lila got up early. The housekeeper hadn't had time to prepare breakfast yet, so she casually ate something on her own, put out cat food for Nova, and then headed to the office.

As soon as she walked in, she ran into Teddy.

"Ms. Hart," he greeted her happily, but then his brows furrowed slightly.

His thoughts were simple, and Lila could immediately guess what he wanted to say. She smiled faintly and said, "I'm fine. Don't worry."

"Ethan went over to Matthew's side. He told me the company assigned new assistants to you and Jamie. How's it going working with them?" she asked.

Teddy smiled. "The assistant's great. Jamie is on set. I've also taken on a new role and will be joining the crew in a few days. Mr. Jordan arranged for a teacher, so I'm here for lessons."

"Study hard," Lila encouraged him.

He had talent for acting but was still young, with plenty of room to grow.

"What brings you here?"

"I took on the drama we discussed before the New Year. I'm going over the script now. The casting process will begin soon, and filming should start early next month after the set is ready."

Teddy looked surprised. "That's so soon!"

Then, he looked regretful. "If I had known, I wouldn't have let Ethan assign me this role. I'd rather be in your production."

Lila patted his shoulder. "There will be plenty of opportunities in the future."

As she spoke, she noticed Teddy's gaze shift behind her. She turned to look as well.

Faith, dressed in a long brown dress with a black wool coat, exuded an air of elegance and grace. She walked toward them in heels, smiling as she waved at Lila.

"Is she one of our company's new talents? She has such a great presence," Teddy whispered.

When Faith first heard it, she was just as surprised as she was now, hearing Lila's straightforward remark.

"If I said the arranged marriage wasn't my idea, would you believe me?"

Lila looked at her calmly. "Does it matter whether I believe you or not?"

"Well, do you want a divorce?"

"I don't." Lila's answer was straightforward.

If she didn't love him, it wouldn't matter. But she knew the feelings she had for Kieran were no longer the same as they had been initially.

Back then, Kieran was her uncle. The imprint of respect she had for him as an elder, the unspoken taboo of it, and the fact that Kieran already had someone in his heart—all of these factors had prevented Lila from falling in love with him.

She hadn't loved him, so she had no problem proposing their one-year agreement.

But now, she was fully aware of her feelings. She also knew there was no one else in Kieran's heart.

Although she maintained the one-year agreement, at first, it had been a gamble—a gamble that Kieran would fall in love with her.
