Lila slept soundly through the night. The next morning, as soon as she woke up, she saw a message from Amelia. "Moore Group just announced their collaboration with Morgan Group! Does this mean Faith won't be leaving Northridge anytime soon?"
Lila didn't reply immediately. Instead, she freshened up, got dressed, and headed downstairs to find Kieran. "I saw the news that Moore Group officially announced their partnership with Morgan Group. Will Ms. Moore be staying here as the project lead?" she asked as soon as she saw him.
Kieran had made breakfast that morning. He placed a freshly prepared egg benedict in front of her and answered casually, "It's still up in the air. The Moores have been planning Faith's arranged marriage for two years now, but since her younger brother, Andy, was still studying abroad, they didn't have a suitable heir to manage the company. That put her marriage plans on hold."
He ladled some oatmeal into a bowl and set it in front of her. "But recently, there's talk that Andy is back in the country."
Lila immediately caught on. The Moore family prioritized their son, but they couldn't just hand him the company without proving his competence to their shareholders. And now, this collaboration with Morgan Group had become the perfect opportunity for him to gain experience.
However, the Moores wanted Faith to marry into the Morgan family, but they also wanted to train their son. The person who would ultimately be in charge was still uncertain.
Lila then thought of something else. "Is Andy a fresh graduate? If he's never been involved in the company before, do you really trust him to handle a deal like this?"
Kieran chuckled. "Moore Group wants this partnership far more than we do. Even if Andy is sent over, he'll be supervised by someone with real decision-making power. In the end, he's just a figurehead."
Lila tapped her fingers on the table thoughtfully. "Does this mean he's not very capable?"
After all, he was blatantly swooping in to take credit for her work.
Kieran took a bite of his oatmeal and shook his head slightly. "If she does come to me and ask me to reject Andy on behalf of the company, the Moores would have to think twice. But Faith probably won't ask."
Lila blinked in confusion before it dawned on her. Kieran could reject Andy, but the Moore family clearly wanted to protect him. And if they couldn't push him into Morgan Group's deal, they might just take out their frustration on Faith instead.
Either way, she was still under their control. And if Andy was given the title of project leader, then all the credit for Morgan Group's success in this collaboration would go to him. No matter how this played out, Faith wasn't going to come out ahead.
