too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian) novel Chapter 538

Lila wanted to say she wasn't as busy as Kieran.

But since they finally had time together, she didn't want to bring up anything that would dampen the mood. Instead, she changed the subject. "Let's eat."

Just as they were about to eat, a knock sounded.

Faith walked in but quickly stopped when she saw them about to eat. "I'll come back later."

She swiftly stepped out and closed the door behind her. Lila stared at the door.

Kieran noticed the shift in her mood. "What's wrong?"

Lila retracted her gaze and asked, "How long will the collaboration with the Moore family last?"

"Around six months," Kieran answered.

"Will Ms. Moore be staying here the whole time?" Lila feigned indifference.

"Not necessarily. Her relationship with the Moore family seems strained. She needs to return if she wants to take over Moore Group." Kieran explained, "But she'll be under their control if she goes back now."

"So she's caught in a tough spot?" Lila mumbled.

Seeing the confusion on her face, Kieran pinched her cheek. "Since when did you start caring so much about her affairs?"

Lila wanted to say she was doing this to guard her relationship. But if she did, she feared Kieran would think she didn't trust him.

So after some hesitation, she rephrased her words. "Not really. I find the Moore family's situation strange. But… didn't Faith ask for your help?"

Kieran chuckled. "You're smart, Lila. I bought 5% of Moore Group's shares."

"That doesn't seem like a lot." Lila thought about her 22% stake in Morgan Group. That was how she became the biggest shareholder.

"It's enough. The Moore family is complicated. No one has a particularly high percentage of shares. If she truly wants control, she needs the board's support," Kieran explained.

Lila nodded. She didn't understand business matters, but if Kieran said it was enough, then there shouldn't be a big problem.

After they finished their meal, Lila prepared to leave. She didn't let Kieran see her off and pushed him back onto the couch to kiss him.

"And due to the recent situation with Andy…" A trace of awkwardness appeared on Faith's face. "My father is now considering Moses as his heir."

Lila's eyes flickered. "So he thinks Andy is a lost cause and wants to replace him with a new successor."

So he would rather have a bastard son as his heir than have a daughter take over the company.

Lila hesitated for a moment before asking, "What about your mother? Would she agree to this?"

"Of course not." Faith sighed.

Lila nodded and observed Faith's expression. After a brief hesitation, she asked, "Does your mother treat you…"

She didn't finish her sentence.

Andy had always treated Faith poorly. But that couldn't be entirely because of Dennis. His mother, Beatrice, must have turned a blind eye too.

Now that Andy had been abandoned, Beatrice would likely shift all the blame onto Faith.
