"I think I'm having a relapse. Lucas, could you please take me to the hospital to see my psychiatrist?"
Isabella was out of options.
She had played her trump card, and still, Linton hadn't budged. He remained fixated on Liliana, his expression a mixture of coldness and stubborn determination, hell-bent on winning his girl back.
As Lucas finally escorted Isabella away, Mr. Foster, who had observed the entire exchange, turned to Liliana with a thoughtful look. "You and Linton… is it all because of her?"
Liliana shook her head gently. "It's not just her."
"Isabella is just one of our many problems. Even without her, there would have been something else."
She sighed, her feelings a complicated tangle. "I suppose… we're just too far gone."
Hearing this, Mr. Foster didn't press further. He simply patted the back of her hand, his voice full of grandfatherly wisdom. "Don't be too sad about it. In this world, there are plenty of other fish in the sea."
He added, "With your talents, you can have any man you want."
Mr. Foster paused, a twinkle in his eye, and added playfully, "I think Aiden is a fine choice."
"Professor!" Liliana exclaimed, startled that her mentor would make such a joke.
Aiden, however, remained unfazed, a gentle smile gracing his handsome, scholarly face. "Mr. Foster is just teasing, Liliana. You're easily flustered, so don't let him get to you."
He continued, "If you run off, he'll be the one who's heartbroken."
Aiden had a surprisingly sharp wit. He appeared to be a refined gentleman, but his words could cut like a surgeon's scalpel.
Mr. Foster shot him a glare, a look of exasperated affection. "Well, you handle it then! Don't say this old man never tried to help you!"
Liliana looked between them, confused.
Just as she was about to ask what they meant, a familiar voice sounded beside her.
"What are you all talking about that's making Liliana smile so happily?"
