Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 123

Liliana paused, thrown by his words, her heart hammering against her ribs. For a terrifying second, her hands trembled, and she nearly dropped the sushi.

She forced a laugh, trying to play it off. "What are you talking about? Pregnant? I have no idea what you mean."

Liam narrowed his mischievous eyes and smiled, choosing not to press the point. He glanced at his watch, his voice a low, lazy drawl. "So, shall we go? It's been a while. My treat. Consider it my welcome-home dinner."

Liliana hesitated. When it came down to it, she, Linton, and Matthew had all grown up together in Crownport. They were childhood friends, and she had been fond of Matthew. He was a genuinely good person.

His younger brother, Liam, had been sent abroad by the Grayson family at a young age, left to live alone with only a bitter old housekeeper for company. Matthew had doted on his brother, flying overseas to visit him whenever he could. Liliana, who loved to travel and often had time on her hands, would frequently drag Linton along with Matthew on these trips. Over time, she had gotten to know Liam, though they rarely kept in touch.

Out of respect for Matthew's memory, she finally nodded. "Alright, I guess."

"Where are we eating?"

"You'll see when we get there." Liam touched his tongue to his cheek again, a smirk playing on his lips. He lazily stuffed his hands in his pockets and started walking. "I didn't drive. Mind if I borrow your car?"

Liliana didn't think much of it. When they reached the parking lot, Liam opened the passenger door for her before sliding into the driver's seat himself.

As he fastened his seatbelt and the engine was about to start, she finally remembered to ask, "When did you get back? And what are you doing around here?"
