Liliana couldn't help but give him a longer look. She was curious now, wondering what this man was really up to.
Perhaps it was her lingering fondness for Matthew, a good man gone too soon, but she wanted to know the truth: was his death a tragic accident or a calculated murder?
She placed her fingertips on his cool hand and stepped gracefully out of the car. A gentle night breeze rustled past, and she instinctively tightened the small, white lace shawl around her shoulders. She was wearing a form-fitting, pale yellow silk dress with delicate embroidery, and the wind caught her long, wavy hair, giving her an air of gentle elegance.
Liam smiled and took her hand. He suddenly leaned in, his lips close to her ear, and his voice dropped to a low, magnetic murmur. "Let me put your hair up. It'll be more convenient for dinner."
Startled, Liliana tried to pull away, but his grip was firm. "No, it's fine, I can..."
She wasn't used to this level of intimacy. Her brow furrowed as she struggled, but his long, graceful fingers were already weaving through her hair. The warm pads of his fingers brushed against the smooth skin of her neck, making her shiver and the tips of her ears turn red.
"Heh..." Liam let out a low chuckle, his roguish eyes lifting with carefree insolence. With long, deft fingers, he gathered her hair and swept it up, fastening it with an elegant band. The style was simple, yet it still looked refined—quietly luxurious.
He stepped back to admire his handiwork. His narrow eyes crinkled as he let his cool fingertips trail through a loose strand of her hair that had fallen onto her shoulder. "There. Let's go." He offered his arm, his sharp jawline tilted in invitation. "A gift I brought back for you from abroad."
Liliana paused, instinctively reaching up to touch the band. A wave of conflicting emotions washed over her. People don't show up out of the blue bearing gifts without a reason. This man was dangerous.
