Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 148

She looked at him as if he were insane. "Is that your solution to everything? Brute force?"

"You think sending them abroad will solve the problem? That's not a solution, it's a temporary fix. You can keep them away for a year or two, but can you keep them away for a lifetime?"

Liliana took a deep breath, making one last attempt to reason with him. "The root of the problem hasn't changed, Linton. Your way of handling things is just a form of escapism. Some things don't just disappear because you ignore them. They're still there, just like the problems in our relationship."

"Then tell me," Linton interrupted, his eyes red-rimmed as he gripped her shoulders, forcing her to look at him. "Tell me what the real problem is with our relationship. Why are you so determined to leave me?"

Liliana paused, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips. "If you can't figure that out for yourself and need me to spell it out for you, then there's really no point in us continuing this conversation."

Linton seized on a glimmer of hope. "So if I can figure it out myself, you'll be willing to reconcile?"

Liliana's expression was flat. "You're dreaming. I will never get back together with you. Give up now. The farther you go, the better. Stop bothering me."

Linton’s body tensed, a look of agony washing over his face.

Seizing the opportunity while he was stunned, Liliana shoved him with all her might and slammed the door shut.

With a loud thud, Linton was left staring at the closed door. He lowered his eyes, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

He stood there in silence for a long time.

Finally, he leaned against the door, his voice hoarse and his eyes still red. "Liliana, don't be angry. Just cool down. I'll come back when you're ready to talk."

There was no response from inside.

A fresh wave of pain washed over Linton. He stood there for another moment before quietly turning to leave.
