Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 166

She hadn't asked for his grand gestures, nor had she forced him into any self-sacrifices. Whatever Linton did now was for his own sake, to assuage his own guilt. His actions didn't mean she had to accept or forgive him.

Just as the hurt he had caused her wouldn't vanish with a simple apology. It just didn't work that way. So, no matter what he said or did now, it was pointless.

Unless time could rewind, allowing Linton to prevent the disaster before it began and erase the pain he had inflicted on her. But there were no 'what ifs.' He didn't have that power. Therefore, there was no 'them.'

Liam sounded genuinely surprised. "Miss Hart, you're more ruthless than I thought."

Liliana's brow arched. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Liam let out a soft laugh, as if genuinely amused.

"It's fine. This is good," Liam said, his usual careless tone returning. "Learn to be good to yourself, let things go, and just live your life happily. It's for the best."

He even sighed with a hint of philosophy. "You know, life is short. It's over in the blink of an eye. Why make it harder on yourself, agonizing over things day and night until you're miserable? So, the way you are now, carefree and liberated, is really for the best."

Liliana didn't reply.

Liam didn't need her to. His lazy voice suddenly turned serious, his tone deep and meaningful. "Listen to me, my dear. I'm telling you this for your own good. Stay abroad for a while, enjoy your trip, and whatever you do, don't come back."

"Crownport has changed. It's a total mess."

Liliana frowned. "But I..."

"I know you're worried about your company," Liam interrupted, his voice smooth and unhurried. "Just listen to me. Leave the company to Aiden and your brother for now. You just focus on your designs and enjoy your life over there."

Liliana had a gut feeling that something was wrong. But no one was telling her anything. And Linton had vanished.

Liliana's fingers unconsciously drifted to her still-flat belly. She lowered her gaze and was silent for a long moment before nodding. "Okay. I'll listen. Thank you for the warning."
