Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 208

"Either it was or it wasn't," Liliana mumbled around a cookie.

Liam lowered his gaze, a faint smile on his lips. "It's nothing. I happen to like these things too."

"Oh, okay then. I guess we have similar tastes." Liliana didn't give it another thought. She was just bored and looking for someone to talk to, the conversation going in one ear and out the other.

*Ding-dong.*

The doorbell rang again.

"I'll get it," Liliana volunteered, peering through the peephole to see another delivery person.

Her eye started to twitch. The package was, once again, addressed to Liam. She carried the box inside, unable to stop herself from asking, "What else did you buy?" This one wasn't heavy, feeling almost empty.

Liam's dark eyes grew even more profound, but he maintained his composure with a light chuckle. "Why don't you open it and see?"

What was in the box? He hadn't bought it, so how would he know? He gripped the spatula in his hand so tightly his knuckles turned white. A vein throbbed at his temple.

Liliana grabbed a small knife and sliced through the tape. Inside, she found a collection of maternity clothes. There were outfits for every stage of her pregnancy, from the first signs of a bump in her third month all the way to her due date in October, all in loose, comfortable styles.

The exquisite designs clearly marked them as high-end luxury brands, each piece easily costing a small fortune.

Liliana was speechless. She looked up at the man in the kitchen, busy cooking in an apron. "This... this is a bit too much."

Liam glanced over his shoulder and saw the maternity clothes in her hands. He froze for a second, a muscle in his jaw twitching before a strange, unreadable smile spread across his lips. "Don't worry about it. Your brother's paying. But if you don't want to wear them, you can throw them out. Or burn them, for all I care."
