Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 212

"Some truths are easy to say. Some things are easy to see and figure out. It's not hard to understand them."

"But when you actually have to do it, you realize..."

Linton fell silent for a moment, his eyes turning red. He clenched his fists tighter, a sad and desolate laugh escaping him.

"Some things are harder than tearing your own heart out."

"Even if your rational mind understands, even if your intellect gets it, your heart... it can make it impossible for you to ever follow through, for your entire life."

Like letting her go.

Impossible.

He could never let her go in this lifetime.

Asking him to let go, to stop loving Liliana, was like asking him to die right then and there.

Gabriel remained noncommittal.

After a long silence, he said flatly, "Suit yourself."

Gabriel hung up.

Linton listened to the dial tone, slowly lowering his eyes as his long fingers rested on the steering wheel.

A sudden, fierce glint appeared in his ayes as a thought crossed his mind.

Linton floored the accelerator, the car shooting off in one direction like an arrow.

A secluded villa in the suburbs.

Linton stepped out of the car, his expression blank, his entire being radiating an icy aura, as if coated in frost.

One of his men approached to give him a report.

Linton glanced up lazily, his voice cold. "Did she talk?"

The subordinate shook his head, his expression grim. "She said she'll only confess if she can see you in person."

Linton's steps faltered.

"Lead the way," he commanded, his voice a flat, emotionless drone.

The man led him to the villa's basement.
