Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 225

“Ahem!”

Liliana choked, the piece of Salmon tumbling from her fork and onto the table.

She quickly took a gulp of water to steady herself, then looked up at him, bewildered. “Are you serious?”

“What, you think I’m joking?”

Liam let out a low laugh, his eyes meeting hers. He pursed his lips. “I’m completely serious.”

Liliana was stunned for a moment.

Her slender, pale fingers tightened instinctively, and she lowered her gaze without a word.

Mrs. Hart glanced between the two of them, then broke the tension with a lighthearted laugh. “Oh, Liam, you’re being a bit hasty.”

“Liliana just broke up with Linton, and she’s pregnant. She’s not in the right headspace for this right now.”

Liam’s eyes remained fixed on Liliana as he chuckled. “That’s fine, ma’am. I have plenty of patience.”

“If it takes her a day to move on, I’ll wait a day. If it takes a year, I’ll wait a year.”

“And if she never moves on, I’ll wait a lifetime.”

Liam’s voice had a lazy, almost roguish drawl.

But for some reason, beneath the playful, laid-back tone, Liliana could hear an unprecedented seriousness.

She thought for a moment before pursing her lips. “Liam...”

“Don’t waste your energy on me. I just want to focus on raising my child...”

Liam cut her off, his voice still nonchalant. “Doesn’t the child need a father?”

Liliana put down her fork, her expression earnest as she looked up at him. “And you’re willing to take that on? To raise another man’s child?”

“You’re still young, even younger than me. You call me sister, so I can’t lead you on. Think about this seriously. Love isn’t a game.”
