Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 233

Back then, the three of them were still young, full of laughter and arguments. Their days were a picture of youthful innocence, brimming with hope for the future.

No one could have imagined that one day, Matthew would be dead.

And that one day, Linton and Liliana's story would become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Liliana drifted back to the present. She looked up at the young man before her, whose handsome features bore a striking resemblance to Matthew's.

"So what's your plan? Aren't you going back to Crownport? The Graysons need you."

Liam leaned against the doorframe, his eyes deep and meaningful as he looked down at her. "You're wrong, Liliana. The Graysons don't need me. They never have." He was the one the Graysons had cast aside.

Liliana froze, not understanding what he meant. Liam didn't seem inclined to explain.

He raised a hand and gently tousled her hair. "Don't worry about it," he said with a low chuckle. "Just think of it as me venting." He paused, his voice turning light and casual. "But you're right, I do need to head back early. The police investigation will take time, and I'll be following it closely. I probably won't have as much free time as I do now."

He was saying he was about to get busy. "Then you should go back," Liliana said. "Business comes first."

Liam looked down and noticed the dazed expression on her face. Liliana was clutching the hem of her clothes so tightly she didn't even realize how tense and lost she appeared to others.

After a long moment, he let out a soft, resigned sigh. He raised his hand and tousled her hair again, this time a bit more firmly, a roguish, carefree smile playing on his lips. "Alright, stop thinking about it. Just focus on your pregnancy. None of this has anything to do with you. My dear, you need to stop paying for other people's mistakes." His gaze sharpened, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "You need to learn to make peace with yourself. To let yourself off the hook."

...

Liam left on an afternoon flight. His departure was rushed, a stark contrast to the calm demeanor he had projected during their conversation that morning.
