Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 292

Liliana immediately rose to her feet, supporting her back. “Gabriel, what did the doctor say to you? You were in there for so long.” She smiled, teasing him gently. “What, were there secrets you had to keep from me? Something I’m not allowed to know?”

Gabriel looked up, his expression a complicated mix of emotions. He pressed his lips together, silent for a long moment before forcing a smile. “It was nothing. You’re just further along now, so the doctor had some extra instructions on how to care for you. I was also discussing the delivery plan with her.”

Gabriel’s hand, hidden from her view, was clenched so tightly his knuckles were white. His arm trembled slightly as he took a heavy step toward her. He leaned down and gently placed his large, warm hand on her rounded belly. “Our Liliana... you and your baby will both be safe,” he said, his voice hoarse. “I promise you... You will be.”

Liliana blinked, feeling even more confused. “Gabriel, what’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”

Something felt strangely off, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Gabriel just smiled, offering no explanation. He simply took her arm and began to lead her out of the hospital. “It’s nothing, Liliana. Let’s go home.”

“...Oh, okay.” Liliana nodded, not thinking much more of it. If there was one person in this world she trusted implicitly, it was her big brother, Gabriel, who had doted on her since they were children. She would never doubt him.

She smiled, looking down at her belly with an expression full of joyful anticipation. The doctor said the baby was healthy. That was wonderful. She had left Linton, and the depression was gone. Whether that terrifying nightmare was a premonition or not, this time, she was determined to prevent it from becoming reality.

...

After Liliana and Gabriel left the hospital, the obstetrician was preparing to call in her next patient when a sudden knock echoed through the room.
