Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 329

Without hesitation, Linton replied in a low, soothing voice, “Your brother did.”

Liliana was about to retort.

Linton continued with a gentle smile, “And your parents. They all agreed.”

“Your brother called me.”

“Your mother let me in.”

“Oh, and Mrs. Hart gave me one of her new brownies when I arrived. They’re quite good. Do you want one? I can go downstairs and get it for you.”

Linton rambled on, his words tumbling out in a nervous, slightly breathless rush. He sounded almost desperate, as if trying to mask a deep-seated fear—the fear of being rejected and denied by her.

“...”

Liliana took a deep breath.

Fine.

So that's how they were going to play it.

She would remember this. She'd deal with them later.

Linton kept his eyes downcast, making small talk with her as if they were still the same intimate couple, before the broken engagement.

His long lashes trembled, casting shadows that obscured the complex, roiling emotions in his eyes, making it impossible to see the thoughts swirling within.

“So, Liliana, what do you want for lunch? I’ll make it for you.”

“Mrs. Hart bought your favorite chicken wings. She said I could use the kitchen. How about BBQ Chicken Wings? Or Honey Garlic Wings?”

Liliana also lowered her gaze to look at him. She was silent for a long moment before slowly lifting her eyes to stare at a point just behind him. Her voice was cold.

“Linton, you do realize we’re not engaged anymore, right? We broke up. We’re over.”

Linton went rigid, his bent back seeming to tremble uncontrollably.

Seeing him react like a terrified, cornered animal, Liliana’s lips curved into a slow, cold smile. Her tone was calm, detached. “I have nothing to do with you, and the baby in my belly has nothing to do with you either. So stop trying to act familiar.”

“Or did you actually think that just because my parents and my brother let you in to help take care of me, we could get back together?”

“If so, you’re delusional. Let me make it perfectly clear to you right now: it’s impossible. Don't even think about it. Be realistic. Stop daydreaming, okay?”

Her clear, melodious voice grew calmer, more detached and distant with each word.

Linton kept his head down, biting his lip so hard his handsome face turned deathly pale, drained of all color.

He was hunched over, his proud spine looking as if it might snap under the weight of her words.

His shoulders trembled slightly. He squeezed his eyes shut in pain. After a long silence, he finally managed to speak, his voice a hoarse, gentle whisper. “Liliana.”
