Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 67

"Linton!"

After a moment of shock, realization dawned, and a furious light ignited in Liliana's eyes. She hissed his name through gritted teeth. All the lingering sadness vanished in an instant, replaced by a roaring inferno of rage.

Her face a mask of cold fury, she immediately dialed his number. He answered almost instantly, as if he'd been waiting up for her call.

"What is the meaning of this?" Liliana’s voice was like ice, sharpened with an anger she couldn't conceal.

Linton’s cool, detached voice drifted through the phone, tinged with a casual laziness. "It doesn't mean anything."

"Liliana," he cooed softly, "you've had your fun. Now come back. The new house is cold and dark. Come keep me company."

Liliana almost laughed in his face. She bit her lip, hating his infuriatingly nonchalant demeanor. It was as if all her feelings were trivial, things he could dismiss and belittle at will. When he pushed her too far, he’d just murmur a few sweet nothings, like he was calming a stray cat. The words meant nothing; they were just sounds he made, devoid of any real sincerity.

Her rage turned to a cold sneer. "Stop playing dumb. You had my social media accounts locked, didn't you? My annulment announcement won't post, nothing related to you will go through. Linton, are you even human? Will you just let me go?"

Confronted so directly, Linton fell silent for a beat before continuing in that same, infuriatingly light tone. "Oh, Liliana, are you hungry? It's so late. I'll come pick you up from your parents' house. You love the late-night menu at Sugar & Lace Patisserie, don't you? They have new items. I'll take you."

He was completely deflecting.
