Chapter 100: "I’ll carry the bomb"

Chapter Hundred

He held up a small case. "Specialized laser detection device goggles. You’re lucky I even got my hands on these."

She reached for it, but he pulled back slightly, his smirk sharp. "Not so fast. You owe me." Of course, she knew she did.

Her fingers twitched at her side. "What do you want?"

He exhaled, tilting his head slightly. "A shipment of high-grade weapons is moving through the docks in three days. Intercept it. I need what is inside."

She studied him for a moment, then took the case from his hands. "Fine." Whatever happened after she handed the shipment to him would be none of her business.

A slow chuckle escaped from him. "Pleasure doing business."

She turned and walked off without another word.

By the time the car returned, she slipped into the back seat, setting the case beside her as they headed toward the hotel.

Inside, Demir was waiting with his arms crossed. The others were gathered, checking weapons and tools.

He barely glanced at the case she carried. Instead, his eyes settled on her. "So, you’re really planning to plant the bomb and be the destruction? You do realize, that when everyone in there hears it, they are likely to come after the sound." His voice was even, but she caught the fear beneath it.

She smirked, shaking her head. "Every life is equally important." She paused. "Or equally useless."

Demir exhaled, rubbing a hand down his face. He knew she would not change her mind. He didn’t have to like it. But he knew.

"Oh, and I almost forgot. You would need to plant a bomb outside the Bunker to disrupt the wire connections. You know when that happens, for four seconds, the password is always 0809." She informed them and barely gave them time to react before turning on her heel and heading for the door.

"Asli—"

She did not slow down. Whatever Demir had to say, she didn’t care to hear it.

The car rumbled over the uneven roads leading to the abandoned factory. The night was silent and only interrupted by the distant chirp of crickets and the occasional gust of wind.

They saw the factory ahead, its walls built as high as it could be.

Demir and the three men left the car and strode toward the gate like clueless tourists, their pace casual, and their expressions a mix of confusion and mild frustration while Asli hid in the car.

The guards at the entrance stiffened, their eyes narrowing at the approaching group. One of them stepped forward, gripping his rifle. "This is private property. Leave."

Demir raised his hands, his face a perfect mask of innocence. "Whoa, whoa. We are just looking for our guide officer."

The guard’s expression didn’t change. "Not our problem. Turn around."

One of Demir’s men scoffed. "Oh, come on, man. We paid him to bring us here. He told us to wait and then he just disappeared. Took a piss, never came back. What, are we supposed to leave him in the woods?"

The second guard sneered. "Sounds like your problem. Leave. Now."

Demir exchanged a glance with the others, playing the part. He huffed, folding his arms. "Unbelievable. We come all this way, pay for a ’local experience,’ and this is what we get? A scam artist who runs off with our money?"

The first guard shoved him back. "Again, not our business. Get lost."

Asli moved out of the car when she noticed the guards were not paying attention to the car. She moved quietly but as fast as she could.

She stayed low, pressing against the cracked concrete wall. Their distraction was working and the guards were too busy arguing with Demir and their men to notice her slipping along the shadows.

Her fingers brushed the first explosive charge. She planted it quickly, moving to the next.

Then, she set the last charge.

Asli immediately informed the others as they all had the tiny device in their ear to communicate with each other. "All bombs planted. Waiting for them to blast in six, five, four..."

At the gate, the argument escalated.

"Hey, hey!" One of the guards raised his gun slightly. "You don’t listen well, do you?"

Demir put his hands up, stepping back. "Alright, alright. No need to get aggressive. We are leaving."

The guards watched them for a moment, then muttered curses under their breath before returning to their post.

Asli exhaled.

The comms crackled in her ear.
