Chapter 55: “Why wouldn’t you?”

Chapter Fifty- Five

"No, give me one reason why I shouldn't think that. All you have done is to blackmail me ever since you had that one thing you could use against me. You even blackmailed me to attend that meeting." Asli was equally flared up. She hadn't realized this was the first time she was confronting anyone with words.

"You know what? This is the last time you'd ever see me again. I think I've played with you more than enough." He replied to her back as he stood up from the bed to put on the jacket he had hung behind the door when he first entered the room. He was not much of a talker, it seemed.

"If you weren't behind it then how did you know when and where to find me? Nobody knows the place is mine aside from my people. Secondly, you benefited from it!" She shot back and suddenly he burst into laughter.

But it was a funny kind of laughter. It was as if he was mocking her yet angry at her and she couldn't help but hate how it sounded. Why did she hate that he wasn't looking at her like she was something edible anymore? What was wrong with her?

"How did I benefit? Tell me, Asli, how was it that it was I that benefited?" His emphasis on the 'I' drew her attention to how wrong her statement was. She almost facepalmed herself. Her embarrassment was on a different level.

This sucked. Why won't they just fight it out? Why did he want to talk it out? Why did he call her here? Why was he telling her she wasn't going to see him again after tonight? Why did she not like how it sounded in her ears?

"I get it, okay? I paid you for it. Didn't I? Was the money not enough? Well, I'm not familiar with how you do it with your whores. Tell me and I'll add the balance." She informed him dismissively and the way his chest heaved up and down quickly, she could tell he was going to explode any moment from now. Well, that would make the two of them.

"Do you think that lowly of me?" His tone sounded pained. She didn't want to care. Why was he asking her this question again?

"Ahmet, you threaten to always talk to my father when I don't come running. What can't you do then? You and your stupid friends think of me as just a woman. A woman you can sleep with. If you have a problem with me, why don't you face me like you would your fellow man? Why must you drug me?" Now she wanted to cry. She'd be damned if she let him see those tears.

She wasn't about to show him any. She was okay when she didn't think he was involved. These men did not hurt her, but he did. She had no idea what she thought they had together. She didn't mind what they were. But, for once, she believed she could call him a friend like her Nanny suggested.
