TRUE 138
Chapter 138
Drew obviously still harbored illusions about Ashley, until Adrian’s people brought him to the so–called “safe address” Ashley had mentioned.
Sitting in the black sedan, seeing through the car window a group of police hidden in the bushes, his expression completely changed, his eyes widening in disbelief.
“See that? This woman never intended to save you. Not only didn’t she save you, she’s been using you all along.” The bodyguard watching him spoke coldly.
Drew instinctively shook his head: “Impossible! Her phone might be tapped, she must have been forced!”
The bodyguard sneered, obviously not expecting that even at this point, this guy still refused to accept reality.
The boss had instructed them to let him see Ashley’s true face for himself. Since he still hadn’t seen clearly, they . would take their time–they weren’t in a hurry anyway.
The car slowly drove away, while the police who had been lying in ambush nearby came up empty–handed.
Ashley had originally thought Drew would definitely be caught this time, but he escaped again. Anxiety was hard to conceal in her heart, and she didn’t know what to do for a moment.
I had just been discharged from the hospital when I received a call from Cynthia.
She said many caring words to me, and even before hanging up, I could still hear her chattering reminders to remember to drink milk, take vitamins, and such. It warmed my heart to listen.
In the afternoon, Ferris went out, and I didn’t know when he would return.
I just wanted to rest quietly today, so I took a leisurely walk in the villa’s garden.
That garden had once been arranged by my own hands, but later Ferris found the colors too mixed and “gaudy,” so
he replaced everything with landscape featuring only green plants.
Thus, all those bright flowers were uprooted, and the garden never had any vibrant colors again.
Just like him as a person–cold and restrained.
As I walked and sighed, I suddenly discovered a small bunch of wild daisies in a corner.
I stopped and stood there, quietly gazing at those pale yellow flowers, lost in thought.

Chapter 138
When Ferris returned and couldn’t find me in the living room, he went outside and saw me standing in the corner, staring blankly at that cluster of daisies.
He seemed to remember the year we first married, when I showed him excitedly with muddy hands the various flowers I had planted in the garden.
