Chapter 140
After chatting with Cynthia, I put away my phone and no longer looked at the dazzling sea of flowers outside the window.
That beauty, which was almost unreal, made me feel somewhat suffocated.
I walked into the music room, sat at the piano, let my fingers fall on the keys, allowing the melody to flow slowly beneath my fingertips.
I don’t know how long I played, but my heart became increasingly chaotic, and the melody began to become disorderly too. Finally, I stood up and walked out.
As soon as I stepped outside the garden, I’immediately saw the old butler.
He wore a neat black tailcoat, his hair completely white, yet he remained spirited. He was directing workers with a meticulous expression.
When he looked up and saw me, he was obviously stunned for a moment, but immediately averted his gaze as if he had never seen me.
After arranging the workers, he slowly walked toward me.
“Luna, did we disturb you?”
His tone was polite, yet it made me instinctively tense up. What followed was more cutting than any crude curse:
“I heard you have hearing problems, so I thought you couldn’t hear.” He paused, his gaze contemptuous. “However, I still must remind you–it’s ten in the morning now, and other high society ladies and wives wouldn’t be lounging at home lazily sunbathing at this time.”
“If you really have nothing to do, I suggest you leave temporarily and not interfere with the workers‘ job.”
“Don’t you agree?”
The corners of my mouth lifted slightly in a sarcastic smile.
In the past, I had sincerely followed his every word and deed, naively thinking he was teaching me how to be a good partner to Ferris.
But until one day, I accidentally heard him talking about me to his daughter: “A wild girl from the countryside who believes whatever she’s told.”
Only then did I understand that he wasn’t acting out of kindness–he was simply enjoying “disciplining the master,” savoring that sense of superiority from stepping on Ferris’s una.

Chapter 140
After all, I was indeed Ferris’s nominal legal partner, the Luna of Silver Moon Pack. Being able to scold his own pack’s “Luna” must have been a great thrill for an old servant.
“Butler. I think you’re wrong.” I looked up at him, my tone calm. “I’m not one of those high society ladies you mentioned, nor can I meet the ‘standards‘ in your mind.”
Actually, I had originally planned to go to the laboratory today.
But now, I wasn’t leaving.
“I won’t leave here all day today.” I looked directly into his eyes. “If you really want me to leave, then call Ferris and have him come personally to drive me away.”
He obviously hadn’t expected me to suddenly fight back and was momentarily stunned.
I didn’t pay him any more attention and turned back to the piano room.
Closing the glass door, piano music resumed, also blocking out most of the outside noise.
I knew he was standing outside the door staring at this place, but I was too lazy to care.
He still had that same old attitude, coldly watching the direction of the music room while directing the workers to continue their work.
Ferris had requested replacing them with plants with less pollen, but such flowers were hard to find to begin with, and it was impossible to complete everything within a day.
Moreover, many of the flowers that had just been transplanted last night probably wouldn’t survive more than a few days and would need constant replacement.
He had probably already planned to come “supervise” me regularly in the future, and incidentally “teach” me how to be a qualified Luna.
I didn’t leave the villa all day.
I heard that when Ferris learned of this news, the corners of his mouth involuntarily curved upward.
He hadn’t expected that a few truckloads of flowers would “stabilize” me. At least he didn’t have to worry about me running away anymore.
He was in a very good mood, even smiling when company executives came in to report work.
The executive shivered on the spot, thinking he had said something wrong: “Alpha Ferris, I… did I do something wrong?”
Ferris came back to his senses, the smile on his face instantly disappeared, returning to his usual coldness.
