The car was very quiet.
Adrian drove, outside the window were flowing lights and night scenes, lighthouse after lighthouse on the riverbank swept past, like the sound of time quietly slipping away.
I leaned against the passenger window, looking outside sideways, my mind in chaos.
“Where do you want to go?” He broke the silence, his tone gentle.
“Just drive anywhere.” I said softly.
Adrian nodded, didn’t ask more, the car turned onto a familiar coastal road.
That stretch along the coast was my favorite place before. Very quiet, also very open.
“Do you remember, I used to say I wanted to build a bookstore here?” I suddenly spoke.
Adrian nodded: “I remember. You said you hoped it would be by the sea, by the wind, open on all sides, sunbathing during the day, counting stars at night.”
“I was really naive back then.” I laughed softly, “I thought as long as I loved someone, cooked for him, did laundry, had children, I could win his heart.”
“You weren’t naive, you were just too pure.” He suddenly said in a low voice.
I turned to look at him.
His gaze fell ahead, the headlights outlining his refined profile clearly.
“You always saw emotions too purely, and he… never thought from your perspective about what you wanted.” He paused, “You didn’t want money, didn’t want status, you wanted an embrace that wouldn’t leave when you cried.”
Those words pierced my heart like needles.
I didn’t respond, just gently closed my eyes.
The car continued forward.
After some unknown time, Adrian slowly stopped the car.
“Get out and look at the sea.” he said.
I got out, the wind was strong, but not cold.

Chapter 151
The sea was calm, a boat’s light flickered in the distance, like a heart lamp in the night.
Adrian stood behind me, suddenly said in a low voice: “You just said you regretted it. Have you thought about giving yourself a chance to choose again?”
I turned back to look at him: “Do you think I still have a chance?”
He looked at me, his gaze firm: “It’s not that you don’t have a chance, it’s that you don’t dare.”
“You’re afraid that once you turn around, you can never go back.”
I stared at him blankly.
The wind messed up my hair, he reached out to gently tuck it behind my ear, his fingers touching my cheek, the movement light, but making my heart suddenly tremble.
“I won’t force you, won’t rush you.”
“But as long as you want, I’ll always be here!”
My throat felt dry, I wanted to say something, but couldn’t say a word.
Late at night, Simon drove to pick me up and take me back to the villa. He saw me and Adrian standing by the sea, but he didn’t disturb us, didn’t greet us, just waited silently on the side.
He knew about Ferris leaving just now, suddenly remembering what his fiancée had told him the day before, that loving someone means giving her enough security, how could he affect their relationship because of another woman?
At this moment, he actually felt some sympathy for me.
Pulling the car to the side, he got out and came to my side.
“Miss Aurora, I’m here to take you home.”
I was slow to come back to my senses, when I looked at him, I hid the loss in my eyes and politely replied: “Thank you.”
I said goodbye to Adrian and got in the car.
Simon deliberately turned up the heat in the car.
Although my health had improved somewhat during these years abroad, compared to others, I was still too thin, especially after being blown by cold wind, my face was particularly pale, as if I could collapse at any blow.
