Terris’s eyes were bloodshot, he rushed into the villa like a madman, practically slamming open every door, but the rooms were empty one by one-
She wasn’t there..
He even picked up his phone, ready to have people set up checkpoints at the airport, train station, and all roads leading out of the city.
Until he burst into the backyard and suddenly stopped his panicked movements.
Under the night sky, with a gentle breeze, I sat quietly on a chair, wrapped in a thin blanket, arms crossed, as if I had been waiting for a long time.
He finally breathed a sigh of relief.
I had actually heard the commotion long ago, my heart trembling slightly. I had thought he wouldn’t come back tonight, but I didn’t expect him to be in such a panic.
The moment our eyes met, Ferris almost lost control and rushed over, pulling me into his embrace.
He held me tightly, with such force as if he wanted to meld me into his bones and blood.
My body stiffened slightly, not noticing his reddened eyes, not knowing how panicked and frightened he had been just moments ago.
“Why aren’t you in your room at this hour?” His voice was hoarse and low, suppressing tumultuous emotions.
I was stunned for a moment, asking back in confusion: “Why must I be in my room at this hour?”
His throat caught, as if my words had left him speechless.
He himself didn’t understand why, in those few short minutes, he had panicked to the point of near loss of control–as if once I disappeared, I could never be found again.
Before I could speak, I remembered something and asked: “Ashley… is she alright?”
His face darkened, and he answered: “Someone slashed her neck, she’s still in the hospital for treatment.”
I was stunned.
This woman… was indeed ruthless enough to harm even herself.
“Was the person caught?”

Ferris’s tone turned cold: “No. But we found out that besides an obsessed admirer, the rest were… Adrian’s bodyguards.”
I had been leaning against his chest, but hearing this, I paused and slowly looked up.
“What do you mean by that?”
Ferris noticed the change in my tone, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he stared at me intently: “Did you tell Adrian something?”
He never believed I was someone who would harm others.
But whether Adrian would act for my sake–that he wasn’t sure about.
My throat felt dry, my vision seemed shrouded in mist, suddenly I couldn’t see his face clearly.
“You think I had Adrian make the move?”
He remained silent.
My heart clenched painfully.
After all these years, I thought I had given up on him, but apparently… being misunderstood still made me want to cry from the pain.
I stared at him steadily, my eyes showing suppressed sorrow “Ashley saved you, so you don’t want her to die, right?”
Ferris nodded.
“If you’re dissatisfied with her, you can tell me, don’t use another man’s hands-”
I suddenly pushed him away, my gaze completely cold.
“What makes you think I’m dissatisfied with her? What makes you think I would ask Adrian to act for her sake? Do you have proof?”
Before he could answer, I continued: “Even if there really is something between Adrian and me, it’s because of you. But now-”
I paused, the corners of my mouth slowly curving into a bitter smile.
“What makes you think that after being hurt by you repeatedly so many times, I still love you? Love you enough to harm other women for your sake?”
The night wind howled past, cold rising from my feet straight up my spine.
Ferris stood before me, as if he had lost all ability to react. His breathing was chaotic, complex and obscure emotions
