Chapter 159
Ferris had always been decisive in his orders, so Simon could only comply and turn to have the legal department prepare contracts and agreements.
“By the way, boss, about your personal account being hacked early this morning–it might take some time to investigate. They used virtual addresses…”
Hearing this, Ferris frowned: “Send me all the data you can find now.”
“Yes, sir.”
After receiving the data, Ferris went straight to his study, locked the door, and activated an independent terminal system.
He imported all the data into his custom firewall host, staring at the jumping signal paths on the screen without. blinking for even a second.
Then he opened a deep encryption channel and dialed a number that only he knew.
The screen connected, and a familiar yet cold voice emerged from the black screen:
“What happened?”
Ferris got straight to the point: “My account was hacked.”
The other party was silent for a second, then spoke in a low voice: “Send me the data.”
Ferris quickly packaged and transmitted all the information. After the transmission completed in a few seconds, the other side simply said:
“I’ll look into it.”
“I need to locate the source. If the opponent’s technical skills are on the same level as mine, breaking through the anti–tracking system will take at least ninety minutes.” Evan’s tone was steady, as if stating the weather.
Ferris looked at the screen, his voice low: “You’ve never used the words ‘at least‘ before.”
“Because I rarely encounter people who make me say that.”
The call ended, and the entire study returned to deathly silence, with only the low hum of the computer fan echoing. Ferris leaned back in his chair, fingers lightly tapping the desk, his eyes dark as ink.
Time passed minute by minute.
Chapter 159
Exactly eighty–eight minutes later, the encrypted channel rang again.
“Found it.” Evan’s voice was cold and flat, without a trace of emotion.
Ferris immediately responded: “Tell me.”
“This is a multi–node dynamic bounce system, layer upon layer of disguise. Someone who can stay in your account for less than five minutes, complete the operation, and escape completely–as far as I know, there are fewer than ten people worldwide who can do this.”
Ferris’s eyes darkened: “What do you mean?”
“The technique is sophisticated, the path is clean, all code is self–written with no traces of commercial modules. This isn’t an ordinary hacker–this is elite among elites.”
“Can you lock onto the source?”
“Yes. But…” Evan paused, his tone devoid of emotion, “For me to break in, I need two weeks.”
Ferris was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled, though his lips held no warmth: “You actually used ‘sophisticated‘ to describe someone else.”
“I admit they’re qualified for that description.” Evan’s tone was cold, “You’ve provoked someone extraordinary this time.”
Ferris smiled faintly.
“So how do you plan to return the favor?”
Ferris’s eyes turned cold: “I never like it when people set traps for me. Of course I have to retaliate.”
“Then you’d better not hesitate.” Evan added coldly, “People like this, once they make a move, it’s not for money.”
The communication ended.
The study fell into silence again. Ferris narrowed his eyes, fingertips lightly tapping the desk–he knew this hunting game had only just begun.
